This is a false Ruckmanite teaching that needs to be avoided. You are right to reject it.

Here's a quote from Ruckman teaching this heresy. Robert Breaker is a devoted disciple of Peter Ruckman so it is obvious where he got his false teaching from:

RUCKMAN TEACHES THAT MEN ARE SAVED IN DIFFERENT WAYS IN DIFFERENT AGES.

He believes men were saved by blood plus works in the Old Testament, by faith plus works in the Tribulation, and by works alone in the Millennium. In Millions Disappear: Fact or Fiction? Ruckman says: “If the Lord comes and you remain behind, then start working like a madman to get to heaven, because you’re going to have to. ... You must keep the Ten Commandments (all of them, Ecclesiastes 12:13), keep the Golden Rule (1 John 3:10), give your money to the poor, get baptized, take up your cross, hold out to the end of the Tribulation, wait for Jesus Christ to show up at the Battle of Armageddon, and be prepared to die for what you believe. In the Tribulation you cannot be saved by grace alone, like you could before the Rapture.”

----------------

The website then shows the correct biblical teaching on how we are saved:

Romans 4:1-8 plainly states that both Abraham before the law and David under the law were saved by faith without works. This is the only plan of salvation God ever has had and ever will have--salvation by grace alone through faith alone based upon the shed blood of Jesus Christ alone. The Old Testament saints did not know what the New Testament saint knows, but Romans 4 makes it plain that the Old Testament saints were saved by faith without works. Like Abraham, they believed God and it was counted unto them for righteousness.

Those who are saved in the Tribulation will also be saved through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and through this alone. “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (Rev. 7:14).

I never heard of the Ruckmanites.  Very interesting.

But the Book of James starts off with this salutation …

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.”

And Hebrews … its not clear who wrote the book … talks about the Levi priests blood sacrifice was never finished. Rivers of blood flowed daily from the Temple of Jerusalem as one animal sacrifice after another was slain for the sins of the people. The High Priest could never sit down because his job was never completed.  But Jesus’ sacrifice is once for all … His blood covers everyone’s sin and after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

and the Hall of Faith Hero’s Chapter 11  list some of the popular Old Testament believers …  by faith they had a good report.

I guess I’m going to have to reread these 2 books again …

Well, the whole reason I asked this question is because I had never heard the teaching before, so I didn't know if it was correct.  I thought if it was correct then it was a good explanation for why I have always been so uncomfortable with James.  I feel like I am under the law with James.

Arthur, please tell me what you think of Paul Washer.  Our small group watched one of his video series and everyone seemed to think it was great.  I wanted to run.

Also, who do you recommend as solid Bible teachers to find online?  My friend's husband is unsaved and she is asking me for ideas. When she asked me that, all I could think of was prophesy teachers!

Well, Paul Washer is a Calvinist. So, he brings all the standard Calvinist problems with him.

I personally can't stand listening to him. I find it like nails on a chalkboard. Perhaps it is his whiny tone in part (could just be me) but his extreme legalism is what gets me. That's all part of the package in Calvinism. They figure that if you are the elect then you need to prove you are. How do you do that? By works, of course. So, you need to be on the works treadmill. Really it becomes a sneaky backdoor works based salvation.

That being said, I have friends that love him. I can't figure out why but we agree to disagree.

This is my honest answer. I hate being so  negative. 🙁 I can't wait for heaven when negativity will be gone and I won't be grumpy, anymore. :yahoo:

Adrian Rodgers, J. Vernon McGee, Andy Woods and David Hocking are a few that I would recommend. I find Charles Stanley to be pretty solid, as well.

The first two have passed away but they have lots of materials online.
