Thank you for sharing, Liza. What corruption. I got as ticket for going through an amber light from that garbage who came to the scene, when it is ok to do that in certain situations. He got his commission and I might get higher car insurance.
I’m so sorry you received a ticket. Do you recall it being the last week of the month that it occurred? That is when they are REALLY on the hunt. This one city on lunch break I would often shop at this mini mall and they were notorious in giving out ridiculous tickets the last week of the month. They zoomed in on those who would pull up to the curb (in the no parking fire zone) they were just letting people out of their vehicles and some were handicap. It’s not like they were sitting idle waiting. I would shake my head as I walked by into the store as the cop showed no mercy to the drivers.
One in that town claimed he was going to give me a ticket for my Yankee plate license cover. I said you got to be kidding me … what are you a Mets fan? He laughed and said no, I’m a Yankee fan so that is why I’m giving you a break this time. He claimed the plate cover is covering up the bottom part of the words “Garden State”. So I removed the plate cover after having it on for 4 years with no prior trouble.
In another city, Toms River, NJ we took my aunt out for dinner at an Olive Garden and my dad was driving a pickup truck and as we were exiting the back of the parking lot my dad put his left signal on … but there was this sign that said NO LEFT TURNS but the sign wasn’t visible for the driver to see it because it wasn’t in the proper spot. It was placed sooo low on the pole, but I saw it from the back seat and warned my dad not to make a left turn AND I informed him there is a cop car waiting in the bushes ready to give out a ticket. Very sneaky .. can you imagine how many victims they got in that spot?
I do think we need more police to actually do their jobs and get criminals off the streets. Unfortunately, some are bad apples.
That's true. We need good police officers to "serve and protect"
Unfortunately, it seems like the good ones get hurt. I remember what the news said about an officer that was killed last year. It seemed he joined the force for the right reason and wants to help people.
