Births Plummet In China As Population Growth Stalls:

The number of new babies born in China dropped to 7.9 million in 2025, the lowest number in more than seven decades.

This marked a 17 percent decline from one year before, when it was 9.5 million.

As Statista's Anna Fleck reports, according to the National Statistics Bureau of China (NBS), the country’s birth rate fell to 5.63 per 1,000 people in 2025.

This is the lowest level since 1949, when the Communist Party took power.

Moscow records heaviest snowfall in more than 200 years, meteorologists say:

Russia's capital Moscow has seen the largest snowfall in more than 200 years this month, Moscow State University meteorologists said on Thursday.

Images from the city of around 13 million people showed residents struggling to make their way through heavy piles of snow on the streets in its central district.

Commuter trains in the Moscow area were delayed and cars were stuck in long traffic jams on Thursday evening.

Images, widely circulated online, showed huge snow piles reaching up to the second storey of buildings and people digging their way through roads as snow blanketed cars on either side.

Canada’s British Columbia Ends Failed Experiment in Hard Drug Legalization:

The Canadian province of British Columbia (BC) has ended its experiment with legalizing hard drugs, and the consensus among both public officials and citizens is that the program was a complete failure.

“This pilot was designed as a time-limited trial with ongoing monitoring built in so we could understand what was working, what wasn’t and where changes were needed. However, the pilot hasn’t delivered the results that we hoped for,” BC health minister Josie Osborne said on January 14 when announcing the impending end of the program.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) managed to get a thumbs-down review of the legalization effort from an actual heroin user, a Vancouver activist named Garth Mullins who said he was an enthusiastic proponent of the legalization experiment when it began, but has been disappointed by the results.

“I was first arrested for drug possession when I was 19, and it changes your life. That time served inside can add up for a lot of people. They do a lifetime jolt in a series of three‑month bits. The idea behind decriminalization was one simple thing: to stop all of us from going to jail again and again and again,” he said.

Mullins said that in practice, the program left junkies on the streets, which annoyed the general public. AFP mentioned one of the breaking points was an incident in 2024 where “a person was filmed smoking what appeared to be a narcotic inside a Tim Hortons, the popular coffee shop chain frequented by families across the country.”

“After months of rising public concern, the government is now conceding what families, front-line workers, and communities have been warning for years: the NDP’s risky experiment with drug decriminalization has negatively impacted our downtowns, communities and schools,” BC Conservative Claire Rattee told the Daily Hive in January.

FALLING FROZEN IGUANAS: Cold Snap in Florida Has Lizards Getting Into a Coma-Like State and Dropping From Trees (VIDEOS):

They’re cold blooded, but not THAT cold.

The extremely cold temperatures hitting this winter in the northern hemisphere is affecting states where is usually much warmer, such as Florida.

There, it’s so chilly that it’s raining… iguanas.

Yes, you read it right: tens of thousands of iguanas were frozen solid by cold temperatures in the Sunshine State and begun literally dropping from trees.

The Telegraph reported:

“Florida is experiencing record low temperatures, with the mercury touching -4C in Orlando – the lowest recorded in February since at least 1923.

As a result, the cold-blooded reptiles have been immobilized and are falling to the pavement in huge numbers.”
