Why did Satan want Moses' body? Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. Jude verse 9 refers to an event which is found nowhere else in Scripture. It does not appear whether Jude learned this by any revelation, or from an ancient tradition. But since bible is inerrant, the account in Jude must be true. Now it brings another question. When did the dispute between Satan and Michael happen? From Deuteronomy 34 verse 5 to 6, we learn that God buried Moses in a valley in the land of Moab and no man knew of his sepulchre. Did the contest between Satan and Michael take place right after the death of Moses? Scripture is silent on that matter. Let's take a bold assumption. Jude wrote the book after Jesus' death and resurrection. By then, the transfiguration of Jesus upon a mountain has already taken place. During the transfiguration Moses and Elijah appeared next to Jesus and Jesus spoke with them. Satan would have seen the event and wondered what role Moses and Elijah would have in the future. To play safe, Satan wanted Moses' body so that resurrection on Moses could have avoided. I am not to say Satan has more power than God. But if God agrees to give the possession of Moses' body to Satan, God cannot break his promise by resurrecting Moses later. This may arise another question. Why wouldn't Satan want Elijah's body besides Moses? He couldn't because Elijah ascended to heaven with his body. To make my point clear. When Satan saw the transfiguration, and Jesus speaking to Moses and Elijah, he knew Moses and Elijah should play a pivotal role in end time event. If he could possess Moses' body, he might have averted God's plan. Having said this, I believe Moses is one of the witnesses besides Elijah. Couple of more points for this transfiguration. I am quoting other sources. [ In Christian teachings, the Transfiguration is a pivotal moment, and the setting on the mountain is presented as the point where human nature meets God: the meeting place of the temporal and the eternal, with Jesus himself as the connecting point, acting as the bridge between heaven and earth. ] Does it sounds like the setting of rapture? We are the temporal meeting the eternal, human nature meeting God, with Jesus as the connecting point? Also, at the time of rapture, we shall transfigure like Jesus and receive an immortal body. Jesus' transfiguration is a foreshadow to rapture. And the immediate presence of Moses and Elijah speaks of them being sent to earth right after rapture. Another wonderful item to ponder. Not for pondering's sake, but to better understand the Lord's heart. Any number of things could be suggested. Truly the fear that indeed Moses would still be used in the future, but I believe that the argument that Satan could thwart or defeat God's will in any wise, leaves much to be desired. Perhaps a personal vendetta against Moses might have spawned the contention. Ultimately, Satan knows his end and even he cannot dispute it. I'm sure he has read the scriptures! But when understanding allows us to look into Satan's heart and motivations, it becomes clear to me that his only option is to try and keep as many he can from entering into that divine romance heralded by the cross. Let us remember, not only was Satan and the fallen angels not offered redemption and forgiveness. But neither were they offered the Lord's heart! Which begs another question, why weren't the angels offered forgiveness?! Hmm, ponder, ponder! TR Which begs another question, why weren’t the angels offered forgiveness?! Hmm, ponder, ponder! Answer...because they were not created in the image of God..... 😉 Why weren’t the angels offered forgiveness? Man was made in God’s likeness. The Lord Jesus loves mankind so much He took on human form and shed His blood to pay the price to redeem us back. All we have to do is believe and accept His free gift of salvation to be grafted back into the family of God. I’m sure the demons are mad and jealous that we were given a 2nd chance. I agree the angels were not created in the image of God. I also think there was no mechanism possible for them to be forgiven, having knowingly sinned against the glory of God with full understanding of the consequences, and that they are individually created, rather than being the offspring of one who passed their sin onto them. There is no blood to be shed for their redemption, as with Christ. If we did not have blood, we could not have Christ's righteousness imputed to us, either. As for why Satan wanted the body of Moses, that is something I do not know. Perhaps it is resurrection related, as has been suggested. Or maybe it's something as simple as turning it into an object of worship, such as has been done with the bodies of Stalin or Lenin. Doing so would have kept the Jewish people from moving forward with God. Too, angels were in the full PRESENCE of GOD and HIS GLORY ~ ~~ In His absolute LOVE(LY) LIGHT ~ these rebellious angels chose pride over the Majestic Creator they once felt and saw ~~ Love IS a choice ~~ ...
