On February 2, 2026, the Moon will be in a waning gibbous phase(appearing nearly full) and will pass in front of the bright star Regulus in a rare "occultation" visible over parts of North America. This follows the Full Snow Moon on Feb. 1, with the moon rising in the early evening on Feb. 2, creating a striking, nearly 100% illuminated sight.
