Sheesh.  Too complicated.  Pay it off and be done with it.

@terry

They could, but they don't want to.  For the reasons in the article.  Mortgage interest is deductible from income tax, which is why some normal Americans may keep a mortgage instead of paying it off.  Their situation is extreme and is probably a way to hide illegal income.

Biden increasingly relying on Hunter for advice post-debate, baffling WH staff:

President Joe Biden is hunkering down and consulting with the people he trusts the most: his family. That includes convicted felon and son Hunter Biden, much to the bewilderment of White House staff.

After Biden's appalling performance in his debate against former President Donald Trump, the current president went back to Camp David to consult with his family on what to do next. It was reported that first lady Jill Biden and Hunter were among those who passionately told the president to stay in the race. The family placed the blame of the bad debate on the team that prepped Biden for six days.

NBC News revealed on Tuesday that Hunter is still sitting in on meetings at the White House after the family's return from Camp David.

"While he is regularly at the White House residence and events, it is unusual for Hunter Biden to be in and around meetings that his father is having with his team, these people said. They said the president’s aides were struck by his presence during their discussions," NBC reported. "One of the people familiar with the matter said Hunter Biden has been closely advising his father since the family gathered this past weekend at Camp David after Thursday’s debate. This person said Hunter Biden has 'popped into' a couple of meetings and phone calls the president has had with some of his advisers."

@patrician Thanks.  The link below the article about you can't just switch candidates was rather humorous.  Another fine mess they've got themselves into.

Supreme Court rules Trump has immunity for ‘official acts’:

In a monumental decision issued on Monday, the United States Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have immunity for official acts. The court’s decision comes after former President Donald Trump argued he should be immune from criminal charges related to the January 6 Capitol riot and 2020 election.

“The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and not everything the President does is official. The President is not above the law. But Congress may not criminalize the President’s conduct in carrying out the responsibilities of the Executive Branch under the Constitution,” the court’s opinion states.

DNC Weighs Early Nomination For Biden To Quash Internal Party Dissent:

Democrat strategists are throwing many things against walls and hoping some stick as the gaslighting continues.

Bloomberg reports that the Democratic National Committee is considering formally nominating Joe Biden as early as mid-July to ensure that the president is on November ballots, while helping to stamp out intra-party chatter of replacing him after last week’s poor debate performance.

Democrats had already planned to nominate Biden, 81, before the convention in order to ensure he appears on the ballot in Ohio, which had an Aug. 7 deadline for candidates to be certified.

A potential date for Biden’s nomination is July 21, when the Democratic convention’s credentials committee meets virtually, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Van Jones tells CNN audience the truth about Biden:

There's a lot more happening behind the scenes than Democrats are willing to admit.

Democratic operative Van Jones alleged Wednesday that Democrats are not being honest about what is happening behind the scenes in their party.  While the conversation happening on TV focuses on whether Biden steps aside, Jones revealed the true conversation in the party is about how to transition from Biden to a successor.  ...behind the scenes, it's a full-scale panic," Jones said on CNN.

"People are passing around legal memos. PDFs are flying back and forth on WhatsApp trying to figure out what are the options, how can you replace Biden, how do you get him to do it in a way where he feels respected as he should be respected, who should Kamala Harris' vice president be," he explained. "The conversation on air and the conversation off air are completely different."

Polls for Biden were bad before the debate, but after the debate, they're exponentially worse.
With Biden's reluctance to bow out, some prominent Democrats — like campaign-winning strategist James Carville — are suggesting ways the party can force out the president.

On a call with party donors this week, Carville suggested donors freeze their spending to down-ballot Democrats to motivate them to get Biden off the ticket. Carville also reframed Biden's debate performance as a positive because it allows Democrats to act.
