The U.S. Department of Education announced on Wednesday that it told Columbia University’s accreditor that the school violated federal law over its handling of antisemitism and no longer meets the requisite criteria for accreditation. The department stated that both it and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services found that Columbia violated Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, because the school “acted with deliberate indifference towards the harassment of Jewish students.” The two departments concluded that Columbia “failed to meaningfully protect Jewish students against severe and pervasive harassment on Columbia’s campus and consequently denied these students’ equal access to educational opportunities to which they are entitled under the law.” Ari Shrage, co-founder of the Columbia Jewish Alumni Association, told JNS that he hopes federal pressure will encourage the university to make necessary changes. “It’s unfortunate that the government needs to threaten Columbia’s accreditation in order to protect Jewish students,” he told JNS. The Democrats thought they had won a victory of sorts, but they got more than they bargained for. The MS-13 terrorist Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who entered the US illegally and had no legal residency status, has been returned from El Salvador after the Supreme Court demanded Trump facilitate his return. Now he will be given the due process they have been demanding, but that due process will be for federal human trafficking charges which could land the illegal alien in jail for ten years. Abrego Garcia illegally immigrated to the United States in 2011 at age 16. Two separate immigration judges in 2019 determined he was an MS-13 gang member, denying him bond based on police informant testimony and gang evidence. Critically, MS-13’s designation as a foreign terrorist organization by Trump means gang members are ineligible for protection from removal. Abrego Garcia was only granted “withholding of removal” – which prevented deportation specifically to El Salvador, not deportation generally. DHS revealed Abrego Garcia’s wife filed protective orders against him in both 2020 and 2021, alleging he kicked her, slapped her, punched and scratched her, ripped off her shirt, and “mentally abused her kids"... On June 6, 2025, Abrego Garcia was charged with conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gain and unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gain. The indictment alleges he transported thousands of migrants from Texas across the US between 2016-2025, making over 100 trips. Attorney General Pam Bondi also revealed uncharged allegations that Abrego Garcia solicited nude photos of a minor and participated in the murder of a rival gang member’s mother. Abrego Garcia faces up to 10 years in prison for each person he allegedly smuggled – potentially a life sentence. Earlier Friday, ICE agents descended on multiple businesses in downtown Los Angeles, including a Home Depot, and carried out immigration raids on Friday. Far-left protestors clashed with federal agents as they conducted their raids. The protestors threw projectiles at agents and blocked vans from leaving. Some protestors threw eggs at the federal agents. The FBI arrived on the scene. After the ICE raids, more than 1,000 protestors marched over to a federal detention center on Alameda street. Far-left protestors vandalized the federal building and clashed with officers. A line of officers in riot gear deployed tear gas, flash bangs and manhandled protestors. DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said more than 800 protestors surrounded and breached the first layer of a federal law enforcement building in Los Angeles. The protestors assaulted ICE officers, slashed tires, and defaced buildings. After weeks of escalating leftist violence against federal immigration agents that culminated in over 1,000 rioters laying siege to federal buildings and assaulting ICE officers, President Trump took the extraordinary step of federalizing 2,000 California National Guard troops, marking the first time since 1965 that a president has activated a state’s National Guard without the governor’s consent. Using rarely invoked federal powers under 10 U.S.C. 12406, Trump bypassed the authority of California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom after violent mobs launched coordinated attacks on ICE agents and laid siege to federal buildings across the state. The president’s directive cites a specific provision within Title 10 of the U.S. Code that allows federal deployment of National Guard forces when “there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.” While violent mobs attack federal agents in the streets, California’s Democrat leadership has openly defied federal immigration law and encouraged resistance to enforcement efforts. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup. But they both turned him down. Pelosi was not honest about their communications – she lied repeatedly about the National Guard requests from President Trump that day. Officer Sund slammed Pelosi for her statement on J6 for the cameras saying she was “surprised” the National Guard was not at the US Capitol after she denied President Trump’s request to have National Guard at the Capitol that day! Despite all of these documented facts about January 6 – Rep. Bennie Thompson on Sunday had the nerve to accuse President Trump of refusing to call in the National Guard on January 6.
