Journo bumps Trump with boom mic — What was that all about?

Why didn’t the Secret Service take any action? How could they be sure that the incident was innocuous?

President Trump was facing a gaggle of reporters and fielding a question on Friday about Gaza when a reporter bumped his face with a boom microphone. The reporter immediately says “I’m so sorry,” but Trump pauses and gives her a long, intense look.

It was an embarrassing accident by a clumsy reporter, and that’s that, right? Well, maybe. Or maybe not.  It was a simple mistake, a trivial matter. And yet some people pointed out the obvious: what if it was something more insidious than that?

Utah’s outspoken Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) asked: “Was the microphone jab intentional?” One commenter on X said: “Maybe it was laced with poison? That was so odd.”

Another added: “The boom mike operator did not look Bulgarian; yet Trump could be checked for any traces of radioactive isotopes or signs of ricin, IF an abundance of caution was in play. On a serious note, there should be NO close contact with the president nor his breathing space (HCN).”

In the same vein, another said: “Here’s what I don’t understand. What if that boom was poisoned. Like fentynol [sic] or something else. Why didn’t secret service immediately take the boom and person responsible and rush the president to safety?? I mean anything is possible with everything going on. Truly worrisome.”

Indeed, why didn’t the Secret Service take any action? How could they be sure that the incident was innocuous?

The media has ready and easy access to President Trump, who has already survived two assassination attempts.

How carefully is their equipment checked before they get close to him? How carefully are the journalists themselves searched?

These days the rhetoric of the left, always incendiary, has become hysterical in its rage ...

Is it really inconceivable that some far-left ideologue who got a job in one of the left’s propaganda organs would seize upon an opportunity to end the life of the man whom the left portrays as the mortal enemy of all that is good?

Even if the boom mic incident on Friday was a complete accident, and entirely innocuous, it indicates what could happen, and could happen all too easily. It should be taken seriously on that basis.

Trusted personnel in the Secret Service need to undertake a fast and thorough review of the security procedures for journalists who get to speak to the president face to face. Those procedures need to be tightened up. Immediately.

Promise Made, Promise Kept: Trump to Sign Order Closing U.S. Education Department:

U.S. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order Thursday that fulfills a key campaign promise of shutting down the Department of Education.

According to a White House summary seen by Reuters, the move ensures the department – called “a big con job” by Trump – is no more. The plan is to shift much of the department’s duties to the states, where curricula is determined, as well as other agencies.

Trump’s new education secretary, Linda McMahon, has defended the president’s initiative achieving what would be his first shutdown of a cabinet-level agency.

The Trump administration has already been gutting the agency, as Breitbart News reported.

Its workforce is being slashed in half and there have been deep cuts to the Office for Civil Rights and the Institute of Education Sciences, which gathers data on the nation’s academic progress, much to the anger of Democrat opponents.

According to Reuters, the order directs McMahon to, “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education and return education authority to the States, while continuing to ensure the effective and uninterrupted delivery of services, programs, and benefits on which Americans rely.”

‘Attempted Murder:’ 15+ Conservatives Targeted by Swatting Attacks in 1 Week:

A series of swatting incidents targeting conservative commentators and journalists have transpired nearly every evening since March 11, according to X posts in which the victims shared video surveillance footage and photos of the events, sparking questions as to who is engaging in what Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) called “domestic terrorism and attempted murder.” FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem have also reacted to the wave of dangerous crimes.

The term “swatting” refers to an anonymous attacker targets someone by making a false call to emergency services — using anonymous tools like Google Voice or VPNs to make it appear the call is coming from a certain location — and telling authorities a murder or hostage event is transpiring at a particular address. Swatting is designed to prompt SWAT teams to arrive at the targeted home and descend on unsuspecting victims, which in the past has lead to deadly encounters and murder charges for the offender.

Trump offers to pay stranded astronauts out of his pocket after finding out how little overtime they are paid:

The president was taking questions from reporters at the Oval Office when he was told by Peter Doocy of Fox News that the formerly stranded astronauts would not be paid overtime despite being stuck in space for 286 days.

Doocy reported that the astronauts would only receive $5 per day in extra pay, which would amount to $1,430.

"Well, nobody's ever mentioned this to me. If I have to, I'll pay that out of my own pocket, OK? I'll get it for them," Trump said in response. "... That's not a lot for what they had to go through."

US Attorney General Says District Judge Has 'No Right' To Ask Flight Deportation Questions:

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said that a federal judge who blocked the Trump administration from invoking the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to remove illegal immigrants has “no right” to ask questions on flights carrying deported individuals.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg had given the Trump administration until Tuesday to respond to his questions about deportation flights carrying alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang, which was designated by the administration as a foreign terrorist organization last month, over the past weekend following an order that he issued to suspend deportations after the administration invoked the 1798 law. He extended the deadline for another day, giving the government until Thursday to respond.

But Bondi told Fox News on Wednesday that such questions are inappropriate and that the judge has “no right” to ask those questions and “no power” to order the government to return those flights back to the United States, adding that she believes “liberal” judges are issuing orders on matters they have no jurisdiction over.

“They’re meddling in foreign affairs. They’re meddling in our government,” she told the outlet. “And the question should be, why is a judge trying to protect terrorists who have invaded our country over American citizens?”

In court papers submitted Wednesday, the DOJ said it was considering invoking the “state secrets privilege” to allow the government to withhold some of the information sought by the court.

“The underlying premise of these orders ... is that the Judicial Branch is superior to the Executive Branch, particularly on non-legal matters involving foreign affairs and national security. The Government disagrees,” DOJ lawyers wrote. “The two branches are co-equal, and the Court’s continued intrusions into the prerogatives of the Executive Branch, especially on a non-legal and factually irrelevant matter, should end.”
