USPS workers storm DC streets as Trump weighs shake-up, potential privatization:
Protesters demand that taxpayers keep footing the bill for the failing mail agency.
United States Postal Service workers stormed the streets of Washington, D.C, on Monday, protesting President Donald Trump’s push to make the mail agency profitable instead of a billion-dollar taxpayer drain.
Last week, theWashington Postreported that Trump plans to axe USPS’ leadership and bring the independent government agency under the control of the Commerce Department.
Trump stated that Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick would review the USPS and implement “a kind of merger,” the news outlet reported.
In December, the outlet claimed that Trump was weighingprivatizingthe mail agency.
The USPS has burdened American taxpayers with billions in annual losses, including $9.5 billion in fiscal year 2024. Further, despite a $107 billion congressional bailout two years ago, financial records show the agency’s liabilities nearing $80 billion.
The National Association of Letter Carriers organized a rally on Monday to protest the reports — rejected by the administration — that Trump is drafting an executive order to shake up the USPS.
The union failed to mention the USPS’ financial burden, instead calling the mail service a “self-sufficient agency.”
Meanwhile, widespreadreportsof the USPS’ unreliable and inefficient operations have existed for years.
On Friday, Trumptoldreporters, "We want to have a post office that works well and doesn’t lose massive amounts of money. ... It’s just a tremendous loser for this country. Tremendous amounts of money are being lost. We think we can do something that will be very good."
‘They will be fired’: DHS has identified ICE raid leakers, Noem says:
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated on Monday that the agency has identified some of the individuals who are suspected of sabotaging Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids by leaking information about the planned operations.
Earlier this month, border czar Tom Homan revealed that a leakunderminedan ICE raid in Aurora, Colorado. ICE had targeted over 100 illegal aliens, mostly Tren de Aragua gang members, but agents nabbed only 30 — just one TDA member.
Noem echoed Homan’s claims, stating that she had reason to suspect that “corrupt” FBI agents had illegally shared the information about the planned raids.
She told Sean Hannity, “I have found some leakers. We are continuing to get more. They will be fired. There will be consequences. And remember, when they leak information to the press in order to blow an op, they are putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy.”
New Poll Shows Massive Support for President Trump and His Agenda:
Anew poll by Harvard CAPS-Harrisreveals the majority of the country backs President Donald J. Trump and his actions to bring much-needed reforms that are making America great again.
Rand Paul reintroduces bill to permanently defund Planned Parenthood:
Sen. Rand Paul reintroduced simple, one-page legislation to permanently cut off federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, excluding the abortion chain from public funding regardless of whatever else happens with federal abortion policy.
Last year, Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report revealed that its affiliates across the nation took in $699.3 million in government “health services” reimbursements and grants, accounting for 39 percent of its total revenue during that period. At the same time, the abortion chain committed 392,715 abortions – yet procedures such as pap tests and cancer screenings continued to decline as percentages of its overall business.
Paul’s bill complements separate legislation recently introduced by Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey and Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi...
Within days of returning to office, President Donald Trump reinstated the Hyde Amendment (that forbids most federal funds from directly supporting elective abortions) and the Mexico City Policy (that forbids non-governmental organizations from using taxpayer dollars for elective abortions abroad).
However, as executive actions, such moves only last as long as a like-minded president occupies the White House and may be unilaterally reversed by the next Democrat president. Paul, Smith, and Wicker’s bills would make clear prohibitions on funding abortion and the abortion industry permanent, reversible only by future acts of Congress.
Ukraine Agrees to Trump’s Rare Earth Minerals Deal, Zelensky to Sign in Washington on Friday:
President Trump mooted the deal as a way of recouping the billions of dollars the United States has spent on supporting Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s invasion.
Under the deal to be signed, the U.S. and Ukraine agree to jointly develop resources, including rare earth minerals, oil, and gas, and that there will be a joint investment fund. Ukraine is reported to have agreed to pay 50 per cent of proceeds from ‘future monetisation’ of state-owned minerals into the fund, and the U.S. agrees to “back Ukraine’s economic development into the future”.
The initial document — a “framework agreement” is relatively light on detail but sets the stage for future negotiations on the finer points, including the size of America’s stake in the fund and how joint ownership will work.
