The Department of War is reportedly drafting a revised nuclear strategy for regional conflicts with China and Russia, with more of an emphasis on limited deployments of short-range tactical nuclear weapons, instead of escalating immediately to all-out nuclear exchanges with intercontinental weapons. ...Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby is driving the shift toward tactical weapons. Colby is scheduled to present his ideas during a visit to U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) headquarters in Nebraska on Wednesday. The revised U.S. nuclear strategy would reportedly give the president options to respond in kind to tactical nuclear deployment by adversaries, instead of escalating to massive exchanges designed to eliminate the adversary’s nuclear arsenal — and, potentially, a sizable portion of the human race. In a statement following the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s 8-5 vote to hold Fauci in contempt, Fauci’s lawyer David Schertler said, “Today’s partisan committee vote is a crude political stunt intended to punish Dr. Fauci for exercising his constitutional rights. [Senator] Paul, chairman of the committee, explained that it would have been very simple for Fauci to simply answer questions during the hearing rather than plead the Fifth more than 100 times. All Fauci had to do, the senator emphasized, was tell the truth. “A million Americans died, and I think they deserved to know truth. Anthony Fauci has advocated for dangerous gain of function research for two decades now. The question ‘why’ is not a question that he can have liability for,” Paul told reporters. “He was given a pardon. Interestingly, the pardon starts in 2014. That’s when the funding of the lab in Wuhan started.” “So I think he should answer questions. As far as pleading the Fifth when you have a pardon, all you have do is tell the truth – just not commit a new crime,” the Kentucky senator said. “But if we were to grant him immunity from telling the truth, of what value, you know, would his testimony would be?” As The Gateway Pundit reported, the US Supreme Court struck down President Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship in a 5-4 decision last month. Trump decried the “very, very unfortunate” decision, adding, “So we’re making adjustments because it’s very unfair.” “This was done right after the Civil War. This was for the babies of slaves, and what’s happening now, people are building businesses around it,” Trump said.“Wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That’s not the way it was supposed to work. It’s a disgrace. They’re buying their way in, and we’re not going to let it happen.” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller then explained the two orders, one of which will “expand the definitions of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship,” including “alien enemies of the United States, members of foreign terrorist organizations, and large categories of people who lobby and act on behalf of foreign governments.” The other order bans birthright tourism, the practice by which people travel to the United States solely for the purpose of giving birth to a child on our soil. “No one in the world is anymore allowed to obtain a visa for this fraudulent purpose,” Miller said. Senator Mitch McConnell was discharged from the rehab center and said he will continue his recovery at home. McConnell was hospitalized on June 14 after he was found unconscious at his DC home. “Earlier today, I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home. Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I’ve received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff,” McConnell said in a statement. “On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” McConnell said. Every single year, both the House and the Senate leave for the month of August for this yearly tradition known as “August Recess.” The House left at the end of July and the Senate is set to leave at the end of the week. Given that Members of Congress will typically arrive in Washington DC around Monday afternoon the earliest and they usually fly back to their respective states by Thursday afternoon, they come to work an average of three days a week. In addition to getting August Recess and showing up to work less days a week than the average American, Congress also gets the month of October off during midterm and Presidential election cycles to campaign. Members of Congress also get extended breaks during federal holidays such as Easter, Christmas, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, and Presidents Day. These extended breaks could last between one to two weeks. It gets even worse, as several Members during the legislative session have reportedly gone missing for weeks, even months. Members such as Rep. Tom Kean, R-NJ and Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA, have fallen under scrutiny for this. President Trump attempted to cancel August recess in 2025, so that the Senate can speed up the process in confirming nominees for various positions, but it never ended up happening.
