Gun control advocate Jonathan Andrew Tijerina was arrested Monday for allegedly defacing New York City’s 9/11 Memorial. The 31-year-old activist allegedly used red spray paint to write the web address of his anti-gun website on the 9/11 Memorial Reflecting Pool. Tijerina “took credit for the vile desecration, posting video of himself in the midst of the act,” reports the New York Post. “The alleged vandal recorded the entire stunt from start to finish, capturing himself walking up to the memorial, pulling a spray can out of his bag and writing his message across several panels[.]” The paint has since been removed at a cost of $2,500. Two of the top teachers unions in the unions have spent more than $900 million over the last decade on far-left groups, political activism, and lobbying, according to a new education watchdog report. North American Values Institute (NAVI), a nonprofit watchdog that tracks ideological activism in education, released an investigation showing that the National Education Association (NEA) dumped $547 million on political activism between 2016 and 2025, Fox News reported. Per the report, $30.1 million went to Education International, a global federation of teachers’ unions. The federation includes the General Union of Palestinian Teachers, which NAVI described as being connected to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). NAVI found that the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the second-largest teachers union in the U.S., reported $383.2 million in political activity and lobbying expenditures between the fiscal years of 2016 and 2025, according to the outlet. “The AFT spent heavily on political causes unrelated to traditional education bargaining, including $1 million on an Ohio redistricting measure, $1 million on Oregon’s Measure 97, $1 million on California’s Proposition 15 and $1.125 million across Wisconsin Supreme Court election cycles,” the NAVI spokesperson said. NAVI concluded in its report that AFT and NEA political activities reach far beyond education to elections, redistricting, tax policy, foreign relations, and ideological advocacy, the outlet detailed. China’s National Bureau of Statistics published the 2026 edition of its yearbook this week, revealing that the national population declined by 3.39 million in 2025 — the fourth decline in a row, and the worst since 2022. China’s population remains enormous at over 1.4 billion, but the cycle of births and deaths left it 7.71 million people smaller than it was in 2021, the beginning of China’s seemingly inexorable population decline. AEI placed much of the blame on China’s infamous “One Child” policy of forced abortions, which crippled Chinese fertility rates in the 90s and set the stage for a “full-blown plunge” in the 2010s. The post-One Child “birth shock” produced the kind of population decline that usually follows a devastating war or plague. “With less than half as many babies in 2025 as in 2016, China’s working age manpower is set on a crash course in the generation ahead: we can see this already, and there is very little Beijing can do to alter that trajectory,” the AEI analysis observed.Nolte: Gun Control Activist Arrested for Defacing 9/11 Memorial:
