We are not the same. Even the UN has described Canada’s assisted suicide program as ‘state-sponsored eugenics’ and called upon the government to curtail plans to expand euthanasia access. In Canada, we kill the disabled. Over 90 percent of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome in the womb are aborted; pre-born children diagnosed with other disabilities usually meet the same fate. But for decades, our Nazi-style lethal ableism was limited to those not yet born. With the expansion of euthanasia eligibility to those suffering solely from disability or mental illness scheduled to come into effect in 2027, that is slated to change. A story recently posted to X by Samantha Smith: A family member of mine is a nurse in Canada. They performed several assisted dying procedures at the care home they worked at, before refusing to continue. In one case, the family of a mentally disabled man decided they wanted him to be euthanised. He didn’t want to die. But my family member was legally forced to end his life. They held his hand while he told them “I’m hungry” and “I’m thirsty.” That poor man didn’t understand what was happening to him as he was pumped full of medication that would end his life, and my family member wept for the soul that was being lost unnecessarily. He wasn’t terminally ill. He wasn’t particularly old. He wasn’t dying. He didn’t want to die. But he didn’t have a choice. Because his life was deemed dispensable by his family, and the Government gave them the power to end his life regardless of his needs or wishes. ... the Assisted Dying Bill opens the door... It starts with “choice” and “dignity.” But suicide isn’t only done “when the patient wants it.” And the countries where it is already legalised have shown us the grim reality. In the Netherlands, 40% of euthanasia deaths occur without patient consent. In Canada, it has been offered to Paralympians who only asked for a mobility aid. If it can happen there; it will happen here. People will be killed against their will. Canada is already killing those with disability or mental illness; thus far, euthanasia practitioners are forced to come up with other reasons for doing so (the written reason for Alan Nichols’ lethal injection was “hearing loss”). But once eligibility requirements are expanded in 2027, the floodgates will open. There is still time to stop this expansion, and we must doing everything we can to do so. The aging populations of rich countries are relying on ever fewer workers to support their economy, dooming those younger generations to a future of higher taxes, higher debt, or later retirement—or all three. Birth rates in middle-income countries are also plummeting, putting their economic development at risk. Practically the only countries set to continue growing are desperately poor. By about 2084, according to the gold-standard United Nations “World Population Prospects,” the global population will officially begin its decline. Rich countries will all have become like Japan, stagnant and aging. Every two years, the UN’s demographers revise their population projections, and for the past 10 years, they’ve always had to revise in the same direction: down. Next year, they’ll do so again. In reality, the worldwide population decline is set to begin decades ahead of their expectations. Because global fertility trends are much worse than they, and probably you, think. Jesús Fernández-Villaverde, a University of Pennsylvania macroeconomist, studies how poor countries develop. This development usually happens alongside a fertility transition. As people move from rural areas to cities, their economic opportunities expand, and kids become less crucial as a source of agricultural labor. Women gain access to contraception and education. They go from having about six kids, on average, to two. Fernández-Villaverde calls this “the standard modernization story,” and he’s been teaching it for decades. Please keep protecting the innocent all over the world. A little boy in Louisiana recently had a spiritual encounter in the midst of a terrifying experience, and his story is touching many people. Krista Parker was with her family that included her six-year-old son, DJ, on the Fourth of July at the Paragon Casino Resort in Marskville, LA when the incident happened, KLFY reported. Parker said DJ was sitting by the pool with his feet in the water, noting he is frightened of water and usually avoids it. However, it only took a split second for him to somehow get into the water and nearly drown, but Parker quickly began performing CPR along with her husband, who is the boy’s step father, to try and revive him. “Lord, cover my baby with your blood in the name of Jesus. Lord, please give me my baby back,” the mother said she prayed. Water began pouring out of the child’s mouth but his mother said his eyes were bloodshot and he was not blinking. Moments later, he threw up and was crying when emergency crews arrived to take over. DJ later apparently told a nurse what happened to him in those initial terrifying moments. Parker recalled, “He looked at me and my husband. He said, ‘No, Daddy, no momma. God is real. I saw him. I saw him and uncle Quimaine.'” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning can happen in the blink of an eye and is often silent. The agency also said, “Formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning.” ...his mother is encouraging parents to be CPR certified in case of an emergency. She is also reiterating DJ’s statement about God, saying he is real and that her son described God as being made up of all colors. Parker said his description made her realize, “We need to love one another and be a unit and God is real. Get closer to God. You seek him, you shall receive.”
