Fuschias grow great here. They seem to like cool damp weather and we get a lot of that. I think they originally came from the foothills of the Andes mountains so most varieties appreciate the cooler temperatures. I think hot and humid is not good for them, yeah. There are hardy fuschias that live outdoors year round here and some others, I can overwinter inside. The hummingbirds absolutely adore them. :rose: . It sounds like you’re living in paradise, Arthur! :stinkerbell: No wonder the hummingbirds stay all year in your area of Canado. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong … do you have sunshine year round? Perhaps I need a sun lamp? I have a sun lamp. It definitely helps as I am North facing. It's a bit challenging but you learn what works and doesn't work. Some plants absolutely love it, like my fishbone cactus, my rat tail cactus and my vanilla orchid. Avacadoes also seem to do well. Oh and my Mexican butterwort carnivorous plants. They don't mind lower winter light and cooler temperatures. They also decimate any fungus gnats or fruit flies. :good: Other plants, not so much. Do you own a Venus fly trap plant? I have many epiphytic cactus orchids. One white night blooming cereus is a prolific bloomer, the others I am waiting. They live outside on my front porch but are inside tonight.
