Its Friday and I’m in a better mood today ...

Dinner tonight will be steaks, garlic mash potatoes, garden Italian salad and garlic toast.  My dog will be having the same minus the salad dressing ... he prefers plain lettuce and carrots.

Dessert - I’m baking a 2 layer German Chocolate Cake.    I can’t find my recipes Cry ... still unpacking ... so I’m trusting this Betty Crocker super moist cake box will be just as sumptuously delicious as my own home-made recipe is.  Will also be using her brand of coconut and pecan frosting.

Due to the “Bomb cyclone, winds up to 88 mph” that hit Boston and NY ... it swung over to southern Vermont and knocked our power out for 18 hrs ... sooo I had to toss 3 weeks ($70 worth) of perishable foods. Cry
Yesterday I bought steaks.  We just finished eating steaks, garlic mash potatoes, garlic bread, very small glass of root beer, 2 tiny fun size boxes of Jr. Mints.   Later around 4:00 pm I will make a serving of apple crisp.

Yum, you sure know how to dress up a steak!  Sorry I don't care for German chocolate.  Not sure what's for dinner tonight, probably just a BBQ chicken sandwich.  Sucking down some chocolate milk right now.  Ran into some cinnamon flavored egg nog, yum yum.

Had steak a couple of nights ago, killer.  Had waffles and sausage for dinner last night.  Though I view eating a chore, it's nice to eat what brings us pleasure.

Mmm ... your BBQ chicken sandwich sounds delicious!   The cold chocolate milk I would have doctored it up just a teeny bit by warming it up in the microwave for 2 minutes and then adding a few marshmallows and whip cream with sprinkling a few chocolate jimmies and cherries on top ...  Now doesn’t that sound better?  Hee hee

The waffles sound good too.  I forgot to buy some frozen ones yesterday to make ice cream sandwiches.

I’ve always enjoyed eating ... especially amongst family and friends - having great conversations and eating good food and desserts makes me happy.  Soon very soon we will all be at the Kings feast ... its going to be so much fun!   B-)

Sharing a meal with someone certainly is entertaining! And given we have to eat, there is no added expense.  I like hot apple cider with cinnamon.

I settled for a bowl of chili and crackers.  Breaking bread/eating seems to be relaxing also, as it is a low stress activity, and opens communication.

Ditto ... hot apple cider is sooo good especially with a little  cinnamon sugar added ... yum!  I had to throw out my gallon of apple cider on Friday morning ... hopefully tomorrow I will be able to pick up another batch at the store.  I miss it.  I had to settle with hot tea tonight.

Oh the bowl of chili sounds soooo good.  Is it homemade or did you go to Denny’s or some place else to order it?  Is it spicy hot chili or mild?  Do you also enhance it with sour cream and cheddar cheese on top?

We just had dinner ... steaks, mash potatoes, glazed carrots, garlic bread.  Earlier I made chocolate pudding and placed in a graham cracker crust pie shell.  But I forgot to buy a can of whip cream and I’m too lazy to go out.  Oh well ... I hope its still good.

The chili was basic, simple and mild, only onions added.  Also had some frozen shrimp scampi a couple of nights ago.  Tonight was a bowl spaghetti.  Had a quesadilla for lunch at Taco Bell, and a Ham sandwich for dinner.  Been eating light lately.  I still go through a quart of chocolate milk every two days.  Ymm  I drink lot's of fluids to fill me up so I don't over eat.  Wanna keep my girlish figure!

Same here ... I like mild chili. :good:  I chop in a few ingredients carrots, peppers ... I will have to include onions next time.  Besides the chili and garlic powder  I also add cinnamon ... it gives it a sweeter taste. 😉    And then when I place a serving on a plate or in the bowl I add melted cheddar cheese and  sour cream.  Oh and a few tortilla chips. Yum!

LOL yeah drinking that much chocolate milk is guaranteed to curb your appetite!

Your spaghetti dinner, trip to Taco Bell and ham sandwich all sound sooo good! :good:

My daughter blessed me with great steak last week as well.  Even though I am particular in my likes and dislikes of certain foods, I still view eating as a repetitive chore.   Just like putting gas into my car, or watering of flowers, or paying of bills or taxes, they seem to be unavoidable.

That was very sweet of your daughter to make you that delicious steak meal.

I grew up around Italian family gatherings and, of course, it was centered around great fellowship and laughter with delicious food and desserts.  I expect heaven to have ice cream parlors, bakery shops, candy shops, popcorn vendor, hot pretzel vendor, fruit drink slurpees/icees/Orange Julius drinks, smoothies, apple cider, regular milk, chocolate milk and ... hot cocoa.  Of course with our glorified bodies there wont be a need to eat if we don’t want to.  But for those who love to snack ... it will be a dream come true and not have to worry about calories. B-)

My daughter attempts to feed me a couple of times a week.  Surely in Heaven, food and eating won't be a chore but a delight, especially the dessert menu!

Eating doubles as an opportunity to cease our hectic pace of life, set aside our concerns and simply enjoy our family and friends.

I wonder if we will enjoy everything edible in glory, or if we will still distinguish and maintain favorites?!  Imagine what new favorite foods we will encounter!

Certainly, there will be no health issues of any sort in Heaven as well.  Now that's glorious.

Good question.  Our taste buds will be enhanced so I can’t imagine suddenly liking the foods and hot drinks we absolutely can not tolerate down here.  I’m leaning towards we will still have our favorite preferences. B-)

Made chicken in the crock pot with a can of cream chicken soup and just added the potatoes, onions and later french style string beans.  I’m all out of carrots.  My dog and I have been eating this chicken stew for the past 2 days.

Also made a no bake cheese cake in a graham cracker pie shell and had the last slice at lunch.

Ha ... I just finished hauling 4 radio flyer wagon loads of stones to finish landscaping my flower bed before the ground freezes.  The walk to the stone pile is 3 acres ... so I am tired.

I skipped breakfast and lunch so my dinner  is going to be Spaghetti with Rao’s brand tomato sauce.  If you can boil water and open up a glass jar of tomato sauce ... you have one easy peasy delicious meal.  B-)

Dessert - cherry jello with whip cream.
