All that we are eagerly waiting to be rid of...comes from the father of lie's and his destruction's.

I will be ever so glad and grateful that we will all be free of him once and for all and forever!

Won't it be nice when wild animals are not afraid of humans. Perhaps in eternity we'll be able to talk to them. (Maybe some of them will apologize. ;))

I got a stern lecture (#@&!!?$!) from this little guy for daring to swap hummingbird feeders. I think the hummingbird language is 90% swearwords. Lol.

Here he/she is manning/womaning? the post on guard for the other hummingbird and the oafish humanbird which keeps stealing his/her food.

So cute!  I’m amazed they didn’t fly south with all that snow you got.  Are they year round in your neck of the woods?

Mine head south in September and arrive back, like clock work, on May 1st.

Geri, that is an Anna's hummingbird. Their territory used to extend only to central California but in the 1930s they started moving north as people started planting eucalyptus trees and started putting out hummingbird feeders. So, they extended their habitation range to Northern California, Oregon, Washington state and now Canada.

Anna's hummingbirds are very adaptable. They eat the most insects out of any hummingbird species and will even forage off of pine sap in a pinch. They are now year round in Southwestern BC. There are also 3 other hummingbird species that migrate up here every Spring but they leave around the end of July.

They also go into a kind of torpor or hibernation at night to conserve energy so they can handle cold a lot better than other species.  Pretty amazing birds.

I look forward to interacting with them in eternity. Hopefully they'll be in a much better mood by then. 😉

They are my favorite birds … 2nd would be the woody woodpeckers!

We only have the ruby neck hummers … and its the males that fight over the feeder … but they let the females drink.  They also do figure 8’s for them. :mdrmdr:    They are the only bird that can fly backwards.

I’m looking forward to seeing all colorful ones like these … I think they only stay on the Western side of the country.  No fair!

We get the Anna's year round in the Vancouver area. The three migratory species we see around here in the spring to summer are the Black Chinned Hummingbird, the Rufous Hummingbird and the Calliope Hummingbirds. There are migratory Ruby throated Humminbirds in Eastern British Columbia but we don't see them on the coast.

Definitely spoiled with variety in the summer. Lots of hummingbirds then and you'll see 4-5 bird or more battle royales. I even see them chase much bigger song birds away.

The Anna's sing but they have a raspy, gravely voice. They are beautiful and incredibly acrobatic but they don't have a beautiful song. I think God is trying to say that you can't have everything. (At least on this earth)  😉

Can't wait for eternity. Then I can make a deal with these guys to pollinate my peanut butter M & M fruit trees. :mail:

Pileated woodpeckers, aka Woody Woodpecker. I get these guys in my yard. These are among my favorites, too. CE9AA94B-9351-4264-8B35-8B14DF6D79ADE803F668-E596-44BD-A566-EF2C4ABA7343

I should have been a humming bird!

I'm always flying backwards!
