Anyone else see on yahoo news, dec 21 winter solstice there will be a conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn aka The Star of Bethlehem, creating what will seem like one big bright star? Article i believe says for the first time in like 800 years or so. Altho i thought ive heard the star of bethlehem talked about it happening not so long ago.

Yes,  it is very interesting. While there are conjunctions every 20 years,  they rarely get this close.  They are not always visable.

Jupiter and Saturn will be 0.1 degrees apart in the sky.  It's the closest they've been since 1623 but they weren't visable that year.  Likely,  behind the sun.  1226 was the last time they were that close and visable.

So,  it's an event to keep your eye on.  Smile

Robert, maybe this will be the showing of the “Bethlehem Star” that will greet the Bride of Christ as we fly by it upward. It was a sign of the greatest birth in mankind history and now maybe it will again represent yet one more joyous occasion in the Life of our Savior, the receiving of His bride, the church. :prayer-hands:

Just musing about something. In some African calendars, it’s actually the year 2012. In Ethiopia, for example. They follow the Julian Calendar rather than the Gregorian one and they have 12 months of 30 days and a 13th month with 5 days and every 4 years it is 6 days.

Stephen Hawking seems to think the Mayan calendar is off by 8 years.

Cambridge, England – In an interview with New Scientistmagazine, world renowned theoretical physicist, Steven Hawking, has claimed the Mayan Calendar’s apocalyptic end date of 2012 is based on flawed calculations.

Hawking, a former Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, has long been a critic of the pseudoscience surrounding doomsday predictions, and in the case of claims that the Mayan Calendar points to the world ending on today’s date, he believes a simple mathematical error has been made.

“In many ways the Mayan’s were ahead of their time,” Hawking is quoted as saying, “but in others they were a little too clever for their own good. In this instance they made the mistake of double counting bank holidays, meaning their calendar isn’t due to run out for a further eight years. People should actually be worrying about 2020, that’s the real end of the civilised world.”

Anyway, perhaps it really should be December 21, 2012 tomorrow. Could be an interesting day. Smile
