I have heard some scholars speculate that Adam and Eve were in the Garden approximately 7 yrs. Not too much conjecture though on this issue. TR Interesting with perhaps being 7 years .... it might have taken Adam a while to name all the animals, plants, trees, fruit, etc. I wonder if he had to write everything down so he wouldn’t forget? :mail: There is no way to pin down the time between creation and the fall, really. I've seen speculation that it might have involved the number "40," as that is sometimes given as the time of testing, whether 40 days or 40 years. For example, Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. The temptation of Christ parallels that of Adam and Eve, as He was the "last Adam." Basically, Christ was tempted with the "lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life," just as Eve was. Archbishop Ussher suggested that Adam sinned on the Day of Atonement. There may be hidden reasons for why God set up His calendar the way He did. We can't be sure of anything. Since Adam could prophesy, the names would have been meaningful and not random sounds. Fig :yahoo: Again from my perspective, I first agree with David as well as with most theologians. The Garden experience was a time of testing. We failed. But sadly, many are deluded into thinking that we should endeavor to enter back in the Garden. Wrong! IMHO. Many teachings and promises are indeed Garden centered. I ask why? I don't want to be stuck in this flesh and blood body forever, I want a glorified body! Heaven will much more grand than the Garden could ever be. I don't want to move backwards, but rather upward! Once our innocence was lost, it can never be retrieved. The same can be said about our virginity. But as I posted elsewhere, the message of false prophets and teachers is that they will forever promise roses and rainbows. Regardless of what God hath spoken. This is what makes it all false! We don't need to be ill, we don't to struggle, we don't need to age or die! The pantheon of lies from false prophets of today is endless! Please forgive my apparent anger against such. TR
