Greetings: Interested in your thoughts..........as I was watching the slow motion death of a once great political party and impeachment, i thought about something and wonder if it may have prophetic implications. A rabbi named Vilna Gaon in 1797 said: “When you hear that the Russians have captured the city of Crimea, you should know that the times of the Messiah have started, that his steps are being heard. And when you hear that the Russians have reached the city of Constantinople, you should put on your Sabbath clothes and don’t take them off, because it means that the Messiah is about to come any minute.” I wager most people never even heard of Ukraine until recently. We have had a non stop steady diet of "Russia Russia Russia" and now Ukraine. Ukraine is Crimea. Crimea is Ukraine. Of course, Russia invaded Crimea a few years back........but that can't be it. Constaninople is Istanbul and we all know that Russia and Turkey are thick as thieves now. Just struck me as odd that Russia and Crimea are in the news every day now and every news item is hanging on what may (or may not) have happened. There has to be a reason Russia and Crimea are front and center on everything now. It can't be a coincidence. Anyone see anything prophetic in this? Or just me? Things just seem to be getting curiouser and curiouser! I'll leave the details of the end of the age to the Lord. TR The big three of Russia, Turkey, and Iran are most definitely growing close in not just their political relationships, but also in their economic relationships. I am definitely keeping a close watch on all three; especially now that they are all in Syria. Interesting comments from rabbi Gaon. I know we are to live by faith and not feelings but everything going on in the world right now causes me to feel like the fuse has already been lit and it is only a matter of moments before we are out of here. Whit — you could certainly say that prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes. The big three ( Russia, Turkey, & Iran) are now cemented, if you will, and bound in the throws of prophecy. They are totally aligned as foretold long before this Jewish Rabbi. He was probably referencing both Daniel and Ezekiel and did not realize that he was actually speaking about the end of the church age and Messiah coming for his bride. Yohanan, I know nothing about ordnance, but I hope there's already something in that lit fuse you mentioned that will accelerate it. We've been watching that fuse way too long for sustained comfort down here I think. If patience is a virtue, I'm certainly void of it. Sigh! By the way, Whit, thank you for the interesting revelation. I had never heard of Vilna Gaon, but I did Google the name and a wealth of rabbit trails sprang forth for me to poke down. It just goes to show again that the more you know the more you know you don't know. I also had never heard of this 1797 prophecy and it is very interesting as the Gog Magog War from Ezekiel 38 and 39 is starting to loom. Russia should have limited role in this conflict since they are already present in Syria. But somehow Damascus is destroyed by a nuclear bomb. This prompts their retreat from the region. But God puts a hook on Gog, and turns the Russian back to attack Israel. It may due to rapture which turns him back. 2nd Coming, I have never heard of the Three Shepherd's War. Do you have a biblical reference for that. If not, I'm still anticipating the Gog Magog War as possibly the next thing. The big three are in such economic straights they have no choice but to march to the beat of another’s drum. They will attempt to invade Israel, to take the much needed spoil in OIL and God will fight for israel, the end.
as for the rabbi, He was led enough to know that a huge cosmic event would take place as the prophets foretold and it will involve the Messiah, but his blind eyes and hardened heart did not see the truth of the Word, who already came as a living sacrifice for a sinner such as I. He is coming at any minute, look up, the signs are all in place and His hand is on the door to heaven, waiting for the Father to give the affirming nod “Son go get your bride, it is time and it is finished”.... sound familiar! :prayer-hands:
