Menendez: ‘Putin Will Not Stop with Ukraine’: Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if Russian President Vladimir Putin were allowed to invade Ukraine, he would not stop there. Menendez told CNN anchor Dana Bash, “Listen, this is beyond Ukraine, although certainly we dramatically support Ukraine. We cannot have a Munich moment again. Putin will not stop with Ukraine if he believes that the West will not respond. We saw what he did in 2008 in Georgia. We saw what he did in 2014 and pursued Crimea. He will not stop. True, true, Arthur. They are drunk with power and their lust for money. They simply can not allow Russia to regain superpower. :groan Don't get me wrong here. I don't think Putin is the good guy in this situation. However, the warhawks in the USA are no better. The USA has their Monroe doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine was the declaration by President James Monroe, in December 1823, that the United States would not tolerate a European nation colonizing an independent nation in North or South America. The United States warned it would consider any such intervention in the Western Hemisphere to be a hostile act. In other words, don't interfere with countries in my backyard. Never mind the fact that they are sovereign nations. One just has to look at what the USA has done historically in countries like Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, etc. Oiii! Now, when Russia does the same thing, the USA is literally up in arms. :wacko: Both Russia with their desire to control neighbouring nations and the USA with their Monroe doctrine are wrong. Canada is even worse. We wag our finger at other countries and the USA, from time to time and yet almost totally rely on the USA for our protection. We get to have our cake and eat it too.
