Every acute care healthcare facility (In the US anyway) is required by regulatory standards to have such an exercise every 6 months with a live drill annually. I have been a part of many of these. Every beginning microbiology student learns that bacteria and virus growth loves “warm, dark, & moist” environments for optimum growth potential. So far, Antarctica, many northern states and cold areas of Russia have not detected cases, thus the environment is not conducive to viral growth. This is not to say it still may not arrive via a host carrier.
Much of this disease is still a mystery, why only elderly, chronically ill, and immune compromised individuals? Again, common epidemiology factoid, a depleted immune system affords a prime host, very little battle will be raised via the C- compliment cascade process.
I would agree, this is not your run of the mill event, it is not following the normal CDC process. Opportunistic, man made virus that kills an already weakened population. As I’ve said before, this is not over.
