Welcome Derrick! I agree, meticulous in minutia yet still forsaking the messiah! TR Hi Derrick. Logical thoughtful propositions. Thanks! :good: Welcome Derrick. What you said makes a lot of sense. The Talmudic Rabbis are, uhhh... literally splitting hairs on the subject. 😉 BTW, I like your name. :good: Derek: this is the WAY. Walk in it. Jun 17, 2018hebrewwordlessons Derek: Way. Strong’s 1870 Root: דֶּ֖רֶךְ dalet/resh/kaf Sounds like: de-rek The word derek means a path or a way. It is often represented just as it sounds within the Tenakh, as in someone casually strolling down a path or road. But there is also great emphasis on a singular path that YHWH has laid out for all who follow Him. By the time of the early church, after Yeshua’s (Jesus’s) death and subsequent resurrection, followers of the risen Yeshua became known as followers of The Way (Acts 19:9, Acts 24:14, 22). But what is The Way? What is this path we are supposed to tread upon? https://hebrewwordlessons.com/2018/06/17/derek-this-is-the-way-walk-in-it/ Thank you very much all for all the warm welcomes! I actually used to post on the old RITAN site years ago (circa 2011-2015) under a more anonymous name. I remember many of you fondly - credit to Arthur however, it was his post a couple weeks ago about the 6000 year calculation that led me to get off my blessed assurance and sign up to be able to comment again. I had responded to his letter on fivedoves but then I thought of a couple more things that I wanted to reply so I thought I should just create a new account on RITAN since my old account info never made it to the new site. Sadly, by the time my account was approved to be able to post - I forgot what else I wanted to say! Also, Arthur about my name….. Thank you, it certainly was not what my parents were thinking when they named me. There is actually a very funny story about a guy named “Derek” who was in the Navy with my dad, but there were stories about him that my mom found contemptible so she didn’t like the name - so the “Derrick” spelling was the compromise lol. I started studying Hebrew in my 20s and I was pleasantly surprised to learn my name had some meaning and a good one at that - it would have turned out a lot worse if my name turned out to be the Hebrew word for ugly or dung or something like that lol! Well, I am glad that my thread/post inspired you to re-join. God works in mysterious ways. :good: Yeah, the Hebrew meaning of your name is quite pleasant. My pastor wrote a book called Derek Yeshua. The way of Yeshua or the way of Jesus. Revelation 2:17 New King James Version 17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’

I also look forward to Yeshua giving us all a new name.
