I can't tolerate neighbors loud music anymore. Neighbor even banging hard on the floor making ceiling shake and scaring me I just need to get out and be on my own away from people Anyone know what it is like to finance an RV and live in it Any info Thank you Go to YouTube and type in “Van Life”. There is an entire subculture dedicated to this topic. Yes, I have been viewing those along with Tiny House videos, so search those also. My step-sister and her husband lived in an RV for a time to save money. (I'm sure they bought it used.) As I recall, the only thing that sort of bothered her was the smallness of the shower. They parked it in a campground where they got a good deal for the rental of the space. They liked being in nature and the woods so it worked out for them. Her husband's co-workers were always complaining about the high cost of housing, so he talked to several of them about the RV lifestyle. Eventually, they moved away to a cheaper state. They then bought a piece of property, a log cabin kit which they built themselves, and they still live in it to this day. My former boss had one. He bought it used … on the small size from the 1970’s. Looked like something the Brady Bunch used with the wild orange and yellow flower print for the cushions. He bought it for vacations because he had 2 golden retrievers and wanted to bring them along. He would park it on his parents backyard when he went to visit them in PA. The bedroom was up in the ceiling … had to climb a ladder it was a tiny crawl space … very claustrophobic to me. If you plan on living in one 24/7 you will really have to get rid of most of your things. Then if you plan on driving it around … think of the high cost of gasoline. He was constantly bringing his into the shop for repairs. He ended up selling it after owning for 2 years. You will have to check into the RV camp grounds near you for the rental park space fees and what it will cost to hook up for electricity, water and to clean out the waste tanks. Also consider the camp ground area … is it deserted most of the year until summer time? That would creep me out to be in the woods like that all alone. It might be better to look into renting a mobile home. They are far more roomier … feels like a small house. Oh I used to get Christmas cards from this one lady from my old church. They sold their NJ home and bought an RV and drove it down to Florida to live at a Christian Campground community. The summer months they would fly back to NJ and stay at their daughter’s home. Then her husband died. She mention paying a few hundred dollars a month for the rental space but that didn’t include the water, electricity, tv/phone svc/ insurance. That was extra …. The rental space was only for using their public bathrooms, the pool, bbq grills, playground. But to see a show and attend the conferences those were extra and had to purchase the tickets. So she was averaging $1,000 a month about 5 years ago. To me that was no bargain … they were better off living in / or renting a condo with more room. Seems there are a lot of websites devoted to this subject. It would take a big shift in mindset to do this I would think. Living in a vehicle in cold climates doesn’t look easy. Lots to consider here. If you really plan on going this route be sure to look at the details of it as that is where the rubber meets the road. RVs have dump tanks to consider. Lots of van lifers use cassette toilets which need to be dealt with. Then there is parking. And showering. Www.cheaprvliving.com Thank you everyone for all the info. Does not look like an RV is for me A friend mentioned maintenance and needing some mechanical knowledge plus safety concerns Thanks for suggesting mobile homes and tiny homes My problem is getting to work from such a remote place Plus the thought of moving alone is draining my energy I cannot tolerate people bothering me anymore My super suggested giving me another apt. In the building that might be quiet I told him you may mean well but are you telling me that I have to endure the stress of moving instead of noisy neighbours stopping being a nuisance? Here, rental listings can say, "quiet neighborhood." You could look for such places. In early years I lived in a mobile home community and loved it. Close neighbors, but separate living. You can trust the Lord if you have His peace to move, to find a right place for you. I used to make a list of things I would like want and need in times of needing to move, and I would lift that up to the Lord as my desires, but asking for His will in it. He was very faithful in supplying most of those things asked for. So Heidi, don't put you faith in man, go to God with what you're looking for, pray, believe, trust that He'll give you a red light to stop, or a green light of peace to go. And if He wants you to go ~ all that you need will begin to materialize and come together. Good advice Kolleen! TR
