Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Returns Nearly $1 Billion In ‘Unused’ Federal Funds After Meeting With Elon Musk:
Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Friday that Florida has returned nearly $1 billion in federal funds after meeting with Elon Musk.
“For years, Florida has been trying to return federal funds to the federal government due to the ideological strings attached by the Biden Administration—but they couldn’t even figure out how to accept it,” the governor said in a post on X. “Today, I met with @elonmusk and the DOGE team, and we got this done in the same day.”
The governor’s office said they will “also continue to identify other unused or surplus federal funding granted to Florida and determine if further refunds can be made.”
The announcement comes one month after DeSantis revealed the creation of the Florida DOGE task force which is set to “further eliminate waste within state government, save taxpayers money, and ensure accountability in Florida,” according to a press release.

Jeffrey Goldberg, the virulently anti-Trump editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, claims he was accidentally added to a secure Signal group chat where top Trump administration officials discussed sensitive military operations against Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen.
And instead of simply excusing himself from the conversation, Goldberg did what elitist far-left journalists do best—he took screenshots of the conversation and ran to his keyboard to try to leak the military operation.
National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes believed the Signal chain was real and downplayed Goldberg’s pearl-clutching.
The Signal thread “appears to be an authentic message chain, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” Hughes told the New York Post.

As Breitbart News reported, during an interview on CNN in February, Noem was asked what she would say if President Donald Trump asked her if he should get rid of FEMA. Noem responded by stating that she “would say, yes, get rid of FEMA the way it exists today,” and described FEMA as being a “bureaucracy that’s picking and choosing winners”:
Noem said, “I would say, yes, get rid of FEMA the way it exists today, we still need the resources and the funds and the finances to go to people that have these types of disasters, like Hurricane Helene and the fires in California but you need to let the local officials make the decisions on how that is deployed, so it can be deployed much quicker. And we don’t need this bureaucracy that’s picking and choosing winners.”
In January, during an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Trump criticized FEMA for complicating “everything,” and added that the agency “has not done their job for the last four years.”
Trump added that he would “rather see the states take care of their own problems.”

Waltz doubled down, insisting the contact must have “sucked in somehow” – though he couldn’t explain how. He claimed the person he thought was in the group chat wasn’t there—it was Goldberg instead.

Well, look, a staffer wasn’t responsible. Look, I take full responsibility. I built the group. My job is to make sure everything’s coordinated. But how does that—I don’t mean to be pedantic here, but how did the number get into the chat? Have you ever had somebody’s contact that shows their name, and then you have somebody else’s number there?
Mike Waltz:
You’ve got somebody else’s number on someone else’s contact. Of course, I didn’t see this loser in the group. It looked like someone else. Now, whether he did it deliberately or it happened in some other technical means is something we’re trying to figure out.
