WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. evacuated 79 staff and families from the U.S. Embassy in Israel on Friday as the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies and growing numbers of private American citizens seek information on how to leave Israel and Iran. An internal State Department memo says the military flight, the second known to have occurred this week, left Tel Aviv for Sofia, Bulgaria, where some or all of the passengers were to get a connecting charter flight to Washington. The document, which was obtained by The Associated Press, also said that more than 6,400 U.S. citizens in Israel had filled out an online form on Friday alone asking for information about when and if the U.S. government would organize evacuation flights. An additional 3,265 people, some of whom may also have competed the form, called an emergency number seeking assistance. There are some 700,000 Americans in Israel, many of them dual nationals, according to estimates, although the exact number at any given time is unclear because U.S. citizens are not required to notify the embassy if they are there or when they might leave. While speaking from Los Angeles, Vance explained that the “good news” was that the rioting in Los Angeles had “gotten a lot better.” Vance added that he had “heard from everybody” that the soldiers and U.S. Marines who had been deployed to quell the violence of the Los Angeles riots were “still very much a necessary part” of what was happening. Vance also criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for having “actively encouraged illegal migration,” and accused them of having “strained” law enforcement and public services in the community. “The President has a very simple proposal, to everybody and every city, every community, every town — whether big or small, if you enforce your own laws, and if you protect federal law enforcement, we’re not going to send in the National Guard because it’s unnecessary,” Vance explained. “But, if you let violent rioters burn great American cities to the ground, then of course we’re going to send federal law enforcement in to protect the people the president was elected to protect.” As Breitbart News previously reported, on Thursday, in a 38-page opinion, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that Trump was allowed to federalize the California National Guard.... Earlier this month, as riots broke out in Los Angeles, Trump federalized 2,000 California National Guardsmen to quell the violence. In response to Trump deploying the National Guard, Democrats such as former Vice President Kamala Harris and Newsom described the move as a “dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos.” Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell later revealed that an “additional 2,000 California National Guard” were being federalized. Additionally, the Trump administration also sent hundreds of U.S. Marines to Los Angeles to support the California National Guard. President Donald Trump announced Saturday evening that the U.S. had bombed three nuclear sites in Iran, and that he would be addressing the nation at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time. He called on Iran to seek peace. Reactions from Israel were positive, with many Israelis still asleep at the time the attack was announced (3:00 a.m. local time). There had been no immediate reports about the results of the airstrikes. Update 9:20 p.m. ET: Fox News reported that six “bunker buster” bombs were used at Fordow, while Tomahawk missiles were used to target Natanz and Isfahan (two sites that were already attacked by Israel). Update 10:05 p.m. ET: President Donald Trump, flanked by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, pronounced the mission a “spectacular success.” Trump added that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been “completely and totally obliterated.” He added: “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace.” He recounted the thousands of Americans whom Iran had killed and maimed over the decades “as a direct result of the hate” of the Iranian regime and its leaders. The president also thanked Netanyahu: “We worked as a team, like perhaps no team has ever worked before.” He thanked the Israeli military and “the great American patriots who flew those magnificent machines tonight.” Trump added that the region might soon be able to look toward a future of peace and prosperity. He closed by saying that he wanted to thank God in particular: “I just want to say, we love you, God, and we love our great military — protect them.
