Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) are introducing legislation that will codify into law a fortified “public charge” rule to prevent welfare-dependent legal immigrants from resettling in the United States. The legislation known as the Public Charge Clarification Act of 2025, shared exclusively with Breitbart News, would put into law the Trump administration’s original public charge rule, which enforced inadmissibility statutes of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to ensure legal immigrants prove their ability to be self-sufficient before securing green cards. “For too long, hardworking Americans have been left high and dry while Washington props up a broken immigration system that rewards dependence,” Marshall told Breitbart News. The bill comes as President Donald Trump recently published welfare data for immigrant groups in the U.S. Shockingly, the data showed that the majority of several immigrant groups are on some form of welfare in the U.S. In particular, more than 8-in-10 immigrants from Bhutan are on welfare, 75 percent from Yemen are on welfare, and about 72 percent from Somalia are on welfare. The Trump administration announced Wednesday it’s taking U.S. taxpayer dollars away from 66 globalist organizations, nearly half of them affiliated with the United Nations and all of which are identified as “contrary to the interests of the United States.” Most notable is the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the parent treaty underpinning all major international climate agreements, AFP reports. Now Trump is making sure U.S. taxpayer dollars are no longer spent at the discretion of the U.N. and its associated globalist affiliates. Vice President JD Vance on Thursday attended the White House briefing to address the fatal ICE-involved shooting, nationwide fraud schemes, and other issues. Vance announced the creation of a new Assistant Attorney General position to investigate fraud nationwide. The new position will be Senate-confirmed, and Senate Majority Leader Thune has promised a swift confirmation. The new assistant attorney general’s work will begin in Minnesota after it was revealed that Somali fraudsters stole billions of dollars of taxpayer money in various schemes. “It has all the benefits, all the resources, all the authority of a special counsel, but with two crucial differences,” Vance said. Vance continued, “Number one, it will be run out of the White House under the supervision of me and the President United States.” “And number two, it’s actually constitutionally legitimate. As you guys may know, the special counsel statute has some major constitutional questions,” he said. “When we get the bad guys, we want to make sure we get them permanently, and they don’t have some legal technicality they can get out of, which is why we set it up as an associate attorney general,” he said. 2026 started out with a bang!
