Scientists discover crystal that breathes oxygen like lungs:

A team of scientists from Korea and Japan has discovered a new type of crystal that can "breathe" -- releasing and absorbing oxygen repeatedly at relatively low temperatures. This unique ability could transform the way we develop clean energy technologies, including fuel cells, energy-saving windows, and smart thermal devices.

The newly developed material is a special kind of metal oxide made of strontium, iron, and cobalt. What makes it extraordinary is that it can release oxygen when heated in a simple gas environment and then take it back in, all without falling apart. This process can be repeated many times, making it ideal for real-world applications.

"It is like giving the crystal lungs and it can inhale and exhale oxygen on command," says Prof. Jeen. Controlling oxygen in materials is crucial for technologies like solid oxide fuel cells, which produce electricity from hydrogen with minimal emissions. It also plays a role in thermal transistors -- devices that can direct heat like electrical switches -- and in smart windows that adjust their heat flow depending on the weather.

Operation Raise the Colours: Flying the national flag has become an act of rebellion:

Blaze Media: Why the English flag now terrifies the regime

The UK’s leadership often appears actively hostile to its majority people. Immigrants refuse to assimilate, demand special treatment, show open contempt for the English, and commit horrific acts of violence – yet the government welcomes more boatloads. Social media is censored to shield newcomers from offence. Protests are suppressed. In a regime that sacrifices free speech for “multiculturalism,” flying the English flag has become an act of rebellion.

This is a clever, nonviolent protest that exposes the regime’s double standard. Every crackdown vindicates the English right to resist.

Immigrant communities have noticed. Coming from societies where ethnic solidarity is openly encouraged, they know what the St. George’s Cross means. In response, some have stripped Union Jacks from poles and replaced them with Pakistani flags.

Elites may seek to crush the English in pursuit of a multicultural utopia, but the native people refuse to yield. Protesters are jailed, flags are torn down, posts are censored – yet the banners keep going up. That stubborn spirit is dangerous to ignore. The English still know who they are. Unless their rulers recognise it soon, the conflict now symbolised by a flag will erupt into something far more serious.

Breakthrough: Israel to Lead World’s First Human Spinal Cord Implant Using Patient’s Own Cells:

Tel Aviv University researchers are preparing for the world’s first spinal cord implant in humans using engineered tissue grown from the patient’s own cells, marking a breakthrough that could restore walking ability to paralyzed patients within the coming year.

The groundbreaking procedure, developed at Tel Aviv University’s Sagol Center for Regenerative Biotechnology, uses a fully personalized approach that transforms a patient’s blood and fat cells into functional spinal cord tissue. Professor Tal Dvir, head of the research team, explained that “more than 80% of the animals regained full walking ability” in preclinical trials using the engineered implants.
The Jerusalem Post also highlighted the significance of Israel conducting the world’s first spinal cord transplant, noting the potential for paralyzed patients to regain mobility through this innovative approach.

Israeli study: Universal rhythm guides how humans speak:

People across the globe structure their speech into rhythmic units at a consistent pace of one every 1.6 seconds, a Hebrew University of Jerusalem study analyzing spontaneous speech in 48 languages found.

These Intonation Units—short prosodic phrases—appear with striking regularity, pulsing through human speech at the same rhythm worldwide.

The researchers said this low-frequency rhythm is stable across cultures, ages and languages, pointing to a universal cognitive mechanism underlying human communication. The findings shed light on how the mind structures language in time and could have implications for neuroscience, language learning and speech technology.

The research, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, analyzed more than 650 recordings in 48 languages across every continent and 27 language families. Using a novel algorithm, the team automatically identified Intonation Units in spontaneous speech, showing that whether in English, Russian or endangered languages in remote regions, people naturally break speech into the same rhythmic chunks.

“These findings suggest that the way we pace our speech isn’t just a cultural artifact, it’s deeply rooted in human cognition and biology,” said researcher Dr. Maya Inbar. “We also show that the rhythm of intonation units is unrelated to faster rhythms in speech, such as the rhythm of syllables, and thus likely serves a different cognitive role.”

Intonation Units help listeners follow conversations, take turns speaking and absorb information, while also providing children with key cues for learning language. The low-frequency rhythm they follow mirrors brain activity patterns tied to memory, attention and volitional action, underscoring the deep link between how people speak and how they think.

School Districts Ditch Hard-to-Repair Electric Buses for Diesel Buses:

School districts throughout the United States are ditching electric school buses, manufactured by a Canadian company that has fallen into bankruptcy, for diesel school buses, citing the difficulty in getting electric buses repaired.

The return to diesel school buses comes as Quebec-based Lion Electric, which the Biden administration awarded $159 million “to manufacture 435 school buses between 2022 and 2024,” has fallen into bankruptcy, according to the Washington Free Beacon. As a result, the company has “warned school districts that its dire financial straits prevent it from servicing” the electric school buses.

Several superintendents explained to the outlet that while they would try to keep the “electric fleet” of school buses operating “for as long as possible,” they would eventually have to “return to diesel” due to diesel school buses being more affordable.
