In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  John 14:2

The statement has a poetic quality to it, reflecting the Jewish custom of a young man adding on to the family estate a room for his new bride.  Still, there is also a need for a literal interpretation, as seen in this verse:

For he [Abraham] looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.  Hebrews 11:10

The concept of having a private, particular dwelling place in heaven is interesting, as is the notion of private property there.  We won't need protection from the elements. And if we have mansions, or "apartments" there, then what sort of rooms are required in it?  Do we need a kitchen with cooking implements?  A bathroom?  A bedroom?  How about a garage for parking our heavenly chariots?

If we have an eternity, would we spend it collecting stuff to fill shelves?  It could get rather busy eventually.

I don't really have an ideal home imagined in my thoughts.  I suspect I'd be content with whatever was given to me.

Yes, a relationship with Jesus would far outweigh any possessions we might contemplate.

Welllllll....I don't know what my heavenly mansion will look like, but since you'll be without one, I'm sure all your Rita siblings will have room for you whenever you want! :stinkerbell:

Yes ... I kind of wonder why we will need a mansion.  Being with Jesus and following Him around is heaven.

I rather be outdoors with the beauty of the golden streets and the wall foundations made out of 12 gem stones and the gates made out of pearls.  Having ALL the flowers ever created in full bloom will be amazing too.  I wonder if you pick a tulip another one will pop right up in its place?   And no dead dried up brown grass ... always green.  Eating tasty perfectly ripe fruit and having fresh drinking water in the river ... no garbage or pollution to spoil the scenery.
