Irrationally, I wish my son had more time before the Rapture???

I understand what you’re feeling Boulder, as my son is a pilot and just got married. Part of me would love to see him enjoy his hard work and maybe even start a family-  however the way we think should be more like this....

The timing of the Lord’s return is set, the 70th week is set as is the Second Coming.  The world that we grew up in is not the world that we have now and sadly it is going to get seriously worse at exponentially fast speeds. We must reconcile this and it comes with grief of seeing the life we once knew fade away-
but of course what the Lord has waiting for us is so much more and for our kids as well- that our new life with Jesus in the place He has created for us will be all the best things of this life but on heavenly steroids... if we only knew even a hint of how amazing it is we wouldn’t want to stay here one second more-

We are to continue in this life, and be about the Father’s work until that day that He snatches us outta here, and I would wager all of my earthly stuff that we won’t miss one earthly thing when we get there- :heart:

I don't think it is uncommon for people to feel the way you do, Boulder. God installed in us a powerful desire to live. We know without a doubt that nothing will compare with Heaven and being with Jesus, so why don't we all off ourselves? I believe it is because of the overwhelmingly strong desire for self-preservation that God gave us. So to want your progeny to experience and thrive is not unnatural. As Christians, we stand strong and vehement against abortion. If Heaven is so much better, which it absolutely is, then why do we want to deny the unborn a ticket straight to where we all want to be? Because built into us is the belief of the sanctity of life. So I would think that your desire for your son to experience life to the fullest is not an unbiblical view. I think the key is to find the balance between the two.

It's always going to be this way, for some generation at some point in time. (That's not meant to imply it's not at the doorstep now, just that whenever it happens, someone is going to have their life on earth and plans cut short.)

I look at it from the viewpoint that none of us has a guarantee of life continuing in this world. For each one of us, this could potentially be our last day. The only security we have is found in Christ; whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

I was probably a different sort of child. My expectation from an early age was to go be with God in heaven, preferably without facing death. Those who are caught up to glory won't look back and regret the things they didn't get to do for a single moment. I think all of us will be so overwhelmed by the presence of God that everything we've ever experienced will pale in comparison.

I agree with all comments!  I'm like David.  Have always wanted to be the Lord.

Given the vision the Lord gave me when I was 12yrs of age, there was I believe an understood promise that I would not die before the Rapture!

I totally understand. I have this dream of moving to Northern Ecuador and gardening year round in a perpetual Spring like climate.

A place right on the equator where it never snows or gets too hot. Highs typically in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s. There is no need for heating or an air conditioner.

Obviously, I would much rather have the Rapture happen but this dream still excites me. Especially on this somewhat dreary January day.

This is my idea of a garden. 😉

I better do it now because I am not sure if these kind of plants will be in heaven and on the New Earth. 😛

Deep down all of us have a rational fear of death and the rapture provides us the hope that we wont have to face it.

The notion of self preservation is built into each of us!  The time is coming however that people will gladly face death, rather than dance with the devil!

And those apart from God will seek death rather than His judgements!
