Apologies for the wall of text. Ha ha!

Today, I was to help a good Christian friend repair fences. We talked at 8 am and he informed me that the brakes on his truck were in bad shape and could be used today but he had an appointment the next morning to fix them. A bad break/brake, you would think?

Anyway, my friend Glenn said he was going to go to a nearby park and pray and blow his two shofars. He asked if I would like to join him and I said yes, I would but I did be a bit delayed.

Well, I arrived about 9:15 and met him there. We prayed together and praised God for a beautiful day and for God's provision.

After praying and praising, Glenn told me that while he was blowing his shofars, it attracted the attention of a young Indian man. He had remarked that in India they had a tradition of blowing a conch horn.

As Glenn was speaking, the young man rode by on his little foot scooter. So, Glenn called him over to chat. So, we three chatted for awhile and we learned that his name was Gurvinder and that he was from India.

Gurvinder has a inquisitive mind and was full of questions. In particular about God. You could certainly tell that Gurvinder was seeking God and that he was also a little different. He carried a little doll around that he called Pinocchio or Mufti, interchangably, and he was quite excited to introduce us two. To be honest, I believe he is either on the autism spectrum or had suffered a serious brain injury. (He alluded to that in our conversation.)

Anyway, Gurvinder had many questions that opened things up to direct biblical answers. He literally led the conversation. It was amazing! We talked about creation and how there must be a Creator. We talked about the human condition and how we are all imperfect and God is perfect. We talked about Jesus bridging the gap between God and man. We talked about eternal life and having a relationship with God the Father through the God man, Jesus Christ.

Towards the end of our conversation, I said, would you like a Bible? He said he was interested so I said we could exchange phone numbers and I could get him one. I found out he didn't have a phone and he said he didn't much room to store things as he was homeless. He then said that he got his meals at the Sikh temple about 8-10 blocks away. I also believe they supplied accommodation for him, as well.

So, right then and there, I offered Gurvinder my favourite Bible that I carry around with me. He was happy about this. I wrote my name, cell phone number and e-mail address in there. We directed him and bookmarked the Gospel of John to read first.  So, off he went on his foot scooter, Bible in tow.

Now here is a very cool thing. I drive by that Sikh temple on a regular basis and everytime I do, I pray that the Temple would fail, the leadership would be throw into chaos and that the Holy Spirit would lead people out into salvation through Jesus Christ. I have been praying that prayer for years. So, I believe that meeting Gurvinder was an answer to that prayer and hopefully the first of many or the continuation of answered prayer.

Likewise, I told Glenn, praise the Lord for your bad brakes! If they hadn't been so bad, we never would have been there for our divine appointment. We laughed and agreed that seemingly bad things can lead to very good things but asked God to keep the brakes going until tomorrow so they can be repaired. Smile
In summation, I have mentioned that I am a very needy person. :rose:  Please pray for Gurvinder. Pray that he would read the Bible and somehow contact me if he has questions. That or allow me to meet him in that same park again for another divine appointment. Also pray that the Sikh temple will not confiscate the Bible but by by God's will, members will start to read it there and be convicted and saved.

Praise the Lord for failed brakes and answered prayer! :good:

This is a wonderful report! God is so awesome! :yahoo: You must have been walking on clouds after your encounter, Arthur! The thing that came to mind while reading this was that you spent so much time praying for the people of that temple. All that time. (Kudos for your consistency!) So what if Gurvinder is the only one who comes to the Lord. Was all that effort worth it? And of course, the answer is a resounding YES!!!!!!!!! As we wait for our Savior to come back for us it can and does get frustrating, especially if we are under a lot of pressure. But how many “Gurvinders” are being brought into His Kingdom while we endure here? Multitudes to be sure. At this moment my afflictions are light, especially compared to many on this forum. So when I get frustrated that we are still here I will keep Gurvinder in mind.

That's great news, Regan! More jewels in your crown that you can cast at the feet of Jesus. :yahoo:

The Lord is bringing in the harvest. May your Bible be blessed and may he find Truth and Life in it. :prayer-hands:
