Honestly, as we roll into Thanksgiving, I am sometimes overwhelmed with thanksgiving when I look at the many blessings of God in my life.  Oh, I could give you a list of some not-so-great things, but I want to focus on the many positives.  I really feel like I live like a king in the sense of all the material blessings I see in my life.  And I am sincerely grateful for those blessings, but they pale by comparison to the spiritual blessings that are ours in Christ.  I will start with a list of the material things I am thankful for and do not want to take for granted, and then transition into a list of spiritual blessings I am thankful for this Thanksgiving:

Running clean water...Hot water to bathe in...running toilets that make outhouses unnecessary...refrigerators, filled with food and grocery stores nearby with shelves that are full...clothes to wear...a car that runs...a job that is a channel of provision for my family...favor at work...a heater that works to warm the house in late fall...plentiful gasoline available to run our cars...electricity to light our home at night...a smart phone to listen to the Bible worship music and Youtube messages from other watchmen and women.

Good transition to the spiritual.  The Blood of the Lamb that takes away our sin...the cross that Jesus was willing to endure for my pardon...our names written in the Lamb's Book of Life...His promise to return and take us to His Father's house...the assurance of salvation...the understanding that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone...The Bible to teach us Truth...the Holy Spirit who seals us unto the day of redemption and indwells with a spirit of adoption into the family of God...other family members who know the Lord...freedom, albeit shrinking, to still share the gospel...the promise of a white robe and a white horse to follow Jesus when He returns to earth...the promise of eternity in the Lord's presence...the promise that the dead in Christ rise first and then we are caught up and changed...the promise to escape the coming wrath...the promise to rule and reign with Him...and so many others!!!   Truly, brothers and sisters, the Best is yet to come!!!

As I shared in a message earlier today to the project team members whom I serve as Project Manager for at work, may we all be granted the ability to see the many rainbows in our life despite the intermittent cloud cover this fallen world inevitably casts over our lives. It is the Sonshine in the midst of the rain that produces the rainbow.   Happy Thanksgiving fellow Ritaners!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

i am most thankful for my salvation.  I have always felt that God loves me best...but of course, He loves each of us best, which is just fascinating to me.

I am truly blessed to be called His own.

God loves everyone, but He loves me best!  Sounds awfully self centered, but He loves each of us as we were the only one He died for!  That makes preferring others more than ourselves so right.

May the sacredness of Thanksgiving Day find our hearts enlarged by His many blessings and by His heart towards us all!
