Hello siblings,

I can't believe how many Christians think we are going to be happy spirits floating around in heaven when we die. They don't know that we will be resurected again, have youthful bodies and live on this earth, worship God, fellowship with each other and have things restored to the way it used to be.

I just told a Christian that we will have resurrected bodies, we might be around Jesus's age and live on the new earth. He asked me: Is this in the Bible? I said yes. (and that is coming from a guy who does read the Bible)

When I notice that this is news to so many people, it makes me wonder if we are wrong.

That this world is not all there is keeps me sane.

can you please point to scripture about these things. I don't want to start wondering and lose hope.

thank you so much.

Get a bible app and google resurrection and resurrected bodies.  I Thessalonians tells us that we shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye.  When our mortal bodies will be given immortal ones.  The O. T. also informs us that no man (in the flesh) can see God the Father and live.  His glory is just too great.  No one knows what age we shall be.  That we will all be around 30 yrs old is a speculation and a myth.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I Cor 15:17-23

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

I Cor 15:52

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

________

As far as what age we will be in heaven ... I personally am leaning towards we will be 20 or 21 years old.  Reason #1 is I asked the Lord if my mom saw her memorial service and if so, if He could show me.  I had a vision/dream of her looking down from the clouds at the service and she looked exactly like a picture in her wedding album ... at the age of 21.  She also looked that way at 20 as well.

(Note:  I know others lean towards we might look like 33 ... I guess we just need to wait and see. )

Reason #2 is the Lord considers the age of accountability 20 and above.  Age of 19 and below is still considered innocent.  Check out these verses ...

Exodus 30:14

Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.

Numbers 14:19

Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census, everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.

Here is another passage you can share with your friend ...

Romans 8:18-23

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

We are due for a serious body upgrade...

1 Cor 15:50-58

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

55 “O Death, where is your sting?  O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

This is very good news!!!:yahoo::flyup:

25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.  Job 19:25-27

This is a resurrection verse from the Old Testament.

28Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice 29and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.  John 5:28-29

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.  1 John 3:2

So what was Jesus like in His resurrection?

37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.  Luke 24:37-43

Flesh, bones, able to eat.

42So will it be with the resurrection of the dead: What is sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable. 43It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.

1 Corinthians 15:44

No mention of apparent age is given, only that we will be in a physical body that is powerful.  I understand that to mean, at a minimum, we won't look like 90-year-olds.

2I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. 4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:2-4

God brings His city down to earth, which we will inhabit.

David, you found fantastic Scripture passages!  I always forget about Job’s great testimony!

Heidi, next time you speak to your friend, can you ask him what Bible version he reads from?  I’m just so curious as to why he doesn’t believe we will have a brand new glorified body.

Excellent passages! Thank you Geri, TenderReed, David and Watchman.

This is so helpful and definitely gets one excited.
