Geri — Southerners — true born :mdrmdr: only always make tea by the gallon, because it only last a day or two!  Most of us don’t like sweet tea toooooo sweet so for my family this is a one gallon recipe.  Again, most true Southerners, do not use a Mrs tea maker either, I boil the tea bags in the water, let them seep and mix up the sugar and water, refrigerate or add ice to drink right away! Some of my Kentucky family add a touch of lemon and some have been known to add a touch of the “Jack” (Jack Daniels) to their glass (probably similar to Long Island Iced Tea). My Tennessee and Virginia family (we are very large - I’m related to the Hatfields and McCoys), like Sun Tea on occasion. You can boil about 2 cups of water in the microwave, add about 5-6 regular tea bags or 2 large ones to this and let them seep for about 1 hour, then mix it up …. Try it you’ll like it :good: 😉

What if God who lives on the sides of the north is not partial to either tea or coffee?!

Better deal with those addictions now!

I can just see it now, we get raprured and Jesus sees all these saints with the shakes!

Oh Tammie :thankyou  so much for the priceless tea making tips!   So it makes a gallon, eh?   B-)    Do the tea bags ever break from soaking in the water too long?

Bwahahahaha you’re related to both the Hatfields and McCoys???  I loved that mini series in 2012 with Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton.  Did you watch it?  Was it spot on the mark how they portrayed the events?  Which side of the family do you feel were right?   Aha … glad you mentioned some of those feuding distance family members kept the liquid tea outdoors in the sunshine … what is the difference from being in the sunshine to “brew” vs. in the cold refrigerator?   Does it taste any different or does it speed up the “brewing” process? B-)

Bwahahahaha …. then we drink grape juice, lemonade, O.J., pina coladas, etc.  will there be beer in heaven?      Personally I’m not a fan of wine … so hoping it taste more like fresh squeezed grape juice.

I’m reposting this here because I think the other spot I had it in will get lost in the shuffle and I’m anticipating Tammie’s responses …

I never watched the series, lived some of that stuff as a kid. I’m actually related to both as my Mom and Dad are third cousins to each other, on from one side and one from the other. Truth be known, neither was right, drunk hotheads is what I was taught! Over a pig, really!!!! And later over moonshine stills, my grandfather had a still  :mdrmdr: smelled an awful lot like rubbing alcohol that was overdone  Family reunions were a trip, some heavy horse shoe playing, heavy drinking, no guns allowed, seriously! Cousins galore, running amuck.. my grandfather hosted a few and he had a small horse farm, thus my love of horses was born, should have been a large animal vet (I have a few cousins who are).

As for tea bags bursting, you boil water first, turn off heat and place the bags in to seep. I’ve not ever had bags burst. The sun tea gets just the right tea color and then it’s brought in the chill.
Hope that is helpful, you gotta try it —- don’t wait too long :prayer-hands:
