Churchgal, you are a true Southerner! Luzianne is the best tea (and you can buy the super huge bags just for brewing tea), McD tea is aweful!!! It's, well, its yuck! I'd rather have lemon than Arnold Palmer. For me, it's too sweet. And here's a secret for all you iced tea brewers who may not know. To get rid of that back end bitterness add a pinch of baking soda. And one more tip while I'm at it. Adding sugar to cold tea is a waste of everything. It cannot ever be as sweet as tea brewed with sugar. You can add a pound of sugar to cold tea and it will not be a sweet.

LOL … Tammie too funny.  I recall my sister-in-law’s mom (she was like another grandmother to me) was telling me all  her adventures oversees.  She was in Great Britain at the time when Princess Diana got married and was at this restaurant and she asked for coffee with cream.  She meant those little Carnation half and half creamers or Lake O Lakes mini moos.  Well the waitress brings out the cup of coffee with loads of whip cream piled high (like you would do for an ice cream sundae) and the cream was overflowing into the saucer. :mdrmdr:   Then when she tried to explain what she really wanted … the lady said … oh, why didn’t you say so … that’s called “white coffee” B-)

Well … all this talk about ice tea … I caved and just went to the grocery store and got some of these … on sale $1.25 each

Yohanan thanks for the tip in brewing with the sugar … that makes sense the sugar hast to be melted in a syrup form with the brewing … just like when making hummingbird sugar water … I put the white sugar in with the water in a glass measuring cup and turn on the microwave for 2 minutes and then stir and the sugar is now in a syrup format.

I’m going to be brave and try to brew homemade ice tea …

Just like me!  The more sugar I eat, the sweeter I become!

Well that is what I tell my wife.  She never buys it!

Yohanan — we make “simple sugar syrup” to add to our warm tea and it is fab ….. I also like sun tea — you are right — Mickey D’s tea is yukey :calvin ;

Another tea tip and coffee too — add a pinch of cinnamon - wha-la no bitter flavor, not even a hint of cinnamon.

Simple sugar syrup

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool or just add to fresh brewed tea, cool — add ice and heaven - ahhhh!

Pure tea is ok — and not bad cold. But brewed is heavenly and smells good when brewing, almost as good as coffee LOL :mdrmdr:

Thanks for this recipe!   Sounds good with adding cinnamon.  Is this like a 1/2 gallon worth of ice tea or a quart or ….?

My problem is I don’t have a Mrs. Tea maker … all along I’ve been putting water in a mug and microwaving for 2 minutes and then putting the tea bag in the mug for a few minutes.  So can I still make ice tea with your recipe … and if so … then how many tea bags do you think I need?

Yeah no! Does not work that way — you get fatter, cause poor insulin distribution and makes for sweet blood and then sticks to the vascular network and then clots and narrowing happens and then slower blood movement through narrower spaces and then heart failure from difficulty of pumping “thickened and slow blood and should I keep going ….. :calvin   Just remember MODERATION

Wonder if we will have those food consumption issues with our perfected body — oh I hope not, eat donuts, cakes, yeast bread, pasta meals ….. a great day is coming folks :yahoo:

Hey, I might have to take a whole new Gross Anatomy class (not gross as in gross yuk — but in macroscope level) and learn about the new version, human anatomy 2.0

An eternity to find all of this out :yahoo:

Lol Geri....yes I was determined to find the best brew coffee and the New England brand definately won! It's really okay that a midwestern gal (born in Chicago) drinks new england coffee and is also a southern belle.... :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr:

Luzianne's is in bags and for brew, I have seen some already in bottles but doesn't taste quite like the home brew....gotta make sure we have some to go with dinner on the heavenly shores

I just combine the sugar and water as is. No need to boil it or use a microwave. The hummingbirds like it just fine.

I do rinse out the hummingbird feeder with hit water and vinegar in between nectar changes, though.
