All true blood-bought, born again, Spirit-regenerated followers of Jesus Christ are part of the Bride of Christ. As such, we are in a state of betrothal. Married, yet awaiting the return of our Bridegroom from His Father's house to take us away and consummate our relationship in the bridal chamber for a period of 7 (in this case, 7 years, as in Daniel's 70th week) while righteous wrath is poured out upon this fallen world. If you have ever looked into the ancient Jewish wedding tradition, you know it is a fascinating study that is full of parallels to the relationship between the Lord Jesus and His Church, with each step of the marriage process described in scripture. One of the most beautiful and least talked about aspects that I learned about in my studies is that the Bride, while she waits at her father's home for her Bridegroom's return, always covered her face with a veil if she went out in public. This was her way to communicate to the world that she was no longer available to other suitors. What a beautiful picture and convicting challenge to us as the Bride. Can the world, as it sees us out in public, perceive by the way we conduct ourselves that our hearts are already spoken for? Do we walk in the "veil" of the Holy Spirit such that it is easily recognizable by the world to see that we are betrothed and no longer available? Too often in my own life the answer to that question is no. As we live our final hours before the Lord returns for His Bride, may we walk in His grace to consistently communicate to the world we are betrothed and no longer interested in anything that may court our affections from this vile and corrupt world. Indeed very well put. I appreciate your heart in this matter. Any word extolling appropriate behavior especially for Christians is indeed to be commended! There are a variety of righteous attributes that indeed can and are being displayed by the Church! IMHO. Quiet servitude, gracious spirits, kind words and smiles, etc. The point that I endeavor to make is the world knows who to hate and why. Elsewhere we are told that the wheat and tares are sometimes indistinguishable, to be separated later. But that veil of righteousness is seen by God and Satan. Truly whenever we chose the things of God over the world, someone notices! Make no mistake! But this veil you speak of is a noteworthy reminder for the Bride! Remembering who we are saving ourselves for.lest we sometimes forget! :rose: Nonetheless a wonderful and beautiful admonition! TR
