Onions are great, I'll pass on the liver! Thank you very much.

Sweet corn on the cob, asparagas, artichokes, green beans, cauliflower, now there's some veggies!

But all do respect to this thread, the "it's all gonna burn" remark speaks to the fact that all in this life is temporary!  I also believe that God's design of inbuilt obselesence applies not only to humans, but to all of creation as well!

"New car syndrome" is such a great example of how we were not made to accumulate the stuff of this world. The excitement is so high and all one can do is think about their new car and how it will make life so amazing! That first month or so after the purchase people will park their new car at the end of the parking lot so no one will scratch it or ding it.  Then, a month or so later the reality of the new bill sets in and the enthusiasm for the new car begins to tarnish. After six months or so that same car is parked in the closest available parking spot. Such is the way of the material world. After years of this cycle it becomes apparent that "stuff" is so transient and does not satisfy especially for a Believer who has Jesus in their heart and knows what true satisfaction is.

So as to not be misinterpreted, I have no problem with buying new cars or owning "stuff". Just simply pointing out the transient nature of it.

My son playing D1 football has somewhat grounded me but the I remind myself that life in heaven will be 1,000,000 times greater without  a life of sin or pain which is a constant battle on earth.

My mom use to tell me, when I was a child, that "normal" was boring! I felt anything but normal and still feel like I don't "fit in" with this world. I look back on my life and see it has been anything but normal... and definitely has not been boring. I truly feel that there are two things about this life we need to keep in perspective as we wait eagerly for Jesus:

#1 Life is kind of like a roller coaster - moments of great anticipation followed by huge letdowns, twists, turns, fast speeds, and slow speeds - but always exhilarating in the end. Sometimes it feels like a kiddy coaster with gentle rises and falls and other times it feels like we cannot catch our breath due to the craziness in our life and the speed with which it comes. But just like a roller coaster, there is a beginning to our life and an ending... this too shall pass. We will get off this temporary roller coaster and walk out into Heaven and the amazing eternity waiting for us all.

#2 Christians are bi-polar! Stay with me here... 😉 When we are born into this world, we have just one nature - sin/self. Life seems "normal" because we are walking in the world and not facing too much strife. When we are born again as believers in Christ, we are given a second nature - the Holy Spirit and THUS... the battle begins! Now we either feed the one nature or we feed the other. Both natures hate each other (self-loathing over personal sin, anyone?) and are constantly working for dominance over the other. We can "flip" between both natures constantly and some days we feel our new nature is stronger and other days our sin nature wacks us in the behind.

Now that y'all are super bummed... Remember, the moment the Lord calls us home; whether in death or in the rapture, we are FREE! No more roller coaster of this crazy sin-filled world and no more bi-polar nature. We will be at rest in Him. I love these verses:

Romans 8:22-24 New International Version (NIV)
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?

Soon brothers and sisters... Maranatha!
