Thought I would start a fun thread on food, delicious sumptuous food.  Even if the prophetic news slows down ... this thread should, hopefully, stay alive ... unless ... ahem ... you’re all fasting. B-)   If your main meal is not dinner please feel free to share what you made for breakfast or lunch.  If you plan on going out to eat ... name the restaurant or fast food place and what you think you plan on ordering ... oh ... and don’t forget dessert.

Ok ... today I’m making a small pot of chili ... very mild mild chili so my puppy dog can have some.    Will also bake a potato and add the butter, chives, chili, shredded lettuce and cheddar cheese. :yahoo:    Drinking a tall glass of ice tea to wash it all down.  Then later for dessert - 2 scopes of pistachio ice cream on a sugar cone.

Yesterday we had our pre-Thanksgiving meal since my brother and his wife will be in Miami on Thanksgiving day to visit their future son-in-law’s side of the family.  It was a great time of fellowship for 6 hrs of eating, talking and watching Christmas DVD’s.  I was kind of hoping my sister-in-law would have made a ham ... instead it was a small turkey.   I’m not that fond of that bird :negative:  but I enjoyed all the tasty side dishes and the desserts were ooh la la good. :good:   I made Italian struffoli  and they supplied the pies ... apple pie with vanilla ice cream and Edwards Hershey Chocolate Creme Pie.  Mmmmm

This morning I made Chicken Parmesan so my dog and I had that for lunch.  We will have that for tomorrow as well and I will freeze the rest for left overs at another time.

Since it was just my dog and I for Thanksgiving, I bought Beef Brisket from the hot deli bar at the grocery store Wednesday afternoon and just reheated in the microwave for 20 seconds and made the side dishes of mash potatoes, garden salad.  Then I had a slice of the Edwards Chocolate Cream Pie.

Today I was out shopping in the afternoon so I stopped at the pizzeria and got their lunch special - 2 slices of pizza and a soda.  I’m still full so I’m skipping dinner.

Oh that ham quiche and butterscotch cream pie sounds soo delicious ... looks like your daughter is feeding you well. :good:

Even the hot dogs sound great!  I haven’t had them in a while.  What brand of hot dogs do you like?  The garlicky Nathan’s franks, the traditional ball park franks or something else?  Also what toppings do you add on?  Just mustard or relish or everything under the sun?

Whenever I would watch the Matlock program I would be craving a chili hot dog.

Costco foot long for about a buck fifty!  Filled with mayo, sweet pickle relish, onions and BBQ potato chips.  Then a churro for desert!

Hot dogs are best BBQ'd with BBQ sauce and light crisp edge on the skin, then everything else thrown on top.  Chili dog with onions and fries a good second choice.

Can't forget a coke on the rocks to chase it down with!  No better yet a vanilla shake with whipped cream and a cherry!

Anyone else besides me salivating?!

Hebrew National Kosher Franks!  Yes, I remember them, Dan.   The NJ grocery stores sold them ... they are very good.  It’s hard to find them up here in Vermont so I’ve basically buy the baseball Ball Park brand but I do prefer the Hebrew National.

T.R. all the toppings you add sound so delicious!  I had to google what a churro is.  So that is basically a cinnamon donut only in the shape of  French Fries?  They look sumptuously tasty.  I could go for that right now!

Heather, so glad to see you join the cyber dinner table.  Aww you’re so sweet.  I wish we did live closer so we could fellowship and eat together.  I reckon we will just have to wait just a little while longer for heaven.

Today it stopped snowing and we had sunshine glorious sunshine for a change!!! :yahoo:   So I was out all day shopping in the big city.  Stopped for lunch at Wendy’s for a quarter pounder juicy cheese burger, fries and chocolate frosty milkshake.

I love it when you talk food!  Churro's are little bit more crispy than a doughy doughnut.

Where down south do you hail?!  What are you "go to" meals.

I skipped  breakfast so lunch is a bowl of spaghetti with Rao’s tomato sauce and I sautéed red peppers and caramelized a sweet vidalia onion so I added them on top.  My drink is black cherry float with vanilla ice cream.   Mmmm  ... delicious comfort food on a wintry day.

I just had an English muffin and some spam.  A glass of chocolate milk also.  Probably a ham sandwich for lunch.

I think we need to start a breakfast club in Heaven.

What is the difference between spam vs. ham?

Yes, a breakfast club in heaven would be awesome! :good:    Just think every kind of donut under the sun and bagels and cream cheese or butter and glorious sumptuous flaky pastries!  :yahoo:   I reckon those who must have protein ... there will be platters of eggs, bacon, ham ... and sweet fruit.

I wonder how we will know its time for breakfast since it will always be sunny and there is no night?  Will there be clocks in heaven so we aren’t late for appointments? B-)

Since we already have Lisa Leenie waiting up in heaven for us in our RITAN room where we can all get together and see each other face to face; which I am super excited about; I think we should also add in a request for a kitchen of some kind where we can cook together and a dining space to enjoy meals together!!!

I have to be careful what time of day I read this post - it makes me hungry every time! :mdrmdr:

Tacos and homemade apple sauce with brown sugar and cinnamon cooked in the crock pot for 3 hrs.  Not only does it make your house smell great but the apple sauce is out of this world.   I will never go back to store bought commercial junk ever again.  Later tonight - vanilla ice cream with melted caramel and walnuts.

I think that the breakfast club house diner will be open 24/7.  Lisa Lennie has already decorated in a 50's style diner.  Every table will have it's own replicator just like on Star Trek, for those incourable trekkies amongst us!  Don't forget the tunes!

Gee Geri7, can I come over for lunch or dinner?  The decadence of your palette is never ending!  Tee, hee, hee.

Oh that 50’s style 24/7 breakfast club house with replicators at each table sounds like a lovely diner! :good:

I was eating chicken cutlets for 2 days straight so today I said enough ... gave the remaining portion to my dog and made the tacos for myself.  I can’t give him anything spicy or that contain beans ... the other day I really paid the price when I had hot dogs ... I opened up a can of Bush’s baked beans for a side dish.  My dog was begging for what I had so I gave a few beans ... oh boy the little stinker gassed me out all night.

I got plenty of food ... wish everyone lived closer to share and fellowship with.  Soon very soon ...

:mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr:  Sounds like our dog too... and she only eats dog food - imagine how bad it would be if we fed her human food!

Just curious are you feeding your dog dry nuggets?   The pet shop that I got my puppy from informed me I need to add water and heat up his dry nuggets yada yada yada and the poor thing had really  bad gas.  I was holding him while sitting down in a chair and the poor thing was going at it and could feel his stomach rumbling ... sounded like a war zone taking place.  He kept looking over at me each time he did a gas bomb and I said “don’t you dare look at me ... you’re the one!” and I had no choice but to open up the window in the middle of the winter.

After 2 days of that ordeal I stopped adding water and gave dry nuggets and praise be ... no more gas bombs! :yahoo:

Yep. We give her dry dog food. She just can stink up a room!  🙁   To be honest, I think it is an indicator that she needs a potty break - so I have been taking her out if/when she stinks us out of a room. So far, she's pottied each time... maybe she is training me instead!   :mdrmdr:

:mdrmdr: :mdrmdr:   so funny!   Well ... I know who is queen of the castle in your home! Hee hee

This has me wondering if this is why we are all going to have mansions in heaven ... just to house our beloved pets in? :mdrmdr:    Or will it be only a 1 room place like dorm rooms?    I feel sorry for those who don’t like dogs or cats.  Perhaps the Lord will assign us all who have pets to one wing of the castle and those who dislike animals to another wing?  B-)

I doubt that God will subdivide our estates based on whether we love animals or not.

Like the old saying goes:  Love the animal, hate the poop!

I'm generally not a big bean eater myself, but I do like Bush's baked beans.  No, they don't give me gas!  I'm house trained, ask my wife!

Hmmm ... no subdivision of estates based on pets.  Will you be nervous if your heavenly neighbor has tons of snakes, gators and scary hairy spiders living next door to you? 😉

I guess adders could become detractors. Or maybe then and up there they will have legs once again and be kinda' cute like iguanas. (Gakk!)

Hmmm ... adders with legs.  Well .... I’m not so sure if that will make me tolerate them all the more.  Just a simple gardener snake has me paralyzed with fear and trembling.  I haven’t been around any Iguanas but just googling pictures of them ... eek ... I’m leaning towards no way!!!  However, I do like Geckos and Salamanders ... they are cute and harmless.

I know someone who expects to have cats in her mansion.  Not ordinary kitty cats ... we are talking lions, tigers, cheetahs, snow leopards, panthers, jaguars ... those BIG cats!  I got a hunch the heavenly mansion life might be sort of like living on Noah’s ark!   I can just visualize opening up the door and seeing a bear, a tiger, elephant, rhino, etc trotting on down the hallway and talking too!

Today ... is homemade pizza ... its in the oven almost done.  Served with Black Cherry soda and York Peppermint Patties!

Pizza and black cherry soda.  Doesn't get much better than that!  I'll forgo any creepie crawlies in my Heaven, thank you.

Funny how even those of the lowest station among us can at any time revel in being master over animals!  Our pets do seem to serve many purposes.  Least of which an object of affection or soul mate!  Really?!

Hopefully, Geri, those large creatures trotting down the hallway are getting in line to use a high-tech multi-species commode facility.

I used to have a St Bernard during various times in the past, and accordingly some large dog doors.  The first St Bernard was named Brutus.  As I cleaned up after Brutus every couple days out in the yard  I would sing, "Bringing in the Sheaves..."

I wonder if we'll have very large lots surrounding our mansions to disburse large animal refuse should we encounter difficulty convincing them to reliably use those indoor commodes.
