In Hebrews 4:15-16 is the greatest solution for any situation:" For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." There are many who care to pray for you, Betamax, and along with them I offer up my prayer to our loving,Abba Father for you .

Matt 11:28-29

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

It can be easy to casually dispense advice; many of us here have had personal struggles and heartbreak.  Still, I rely on this:

22 This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“See, I will beckon to the nations,
I will lift up my banner to the peoples;
they will bring your sons in their arms
and carry your daughters on their hips.
23 Kings will be your foster fathers,
and their queens your nursing mothers.
They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground;
they will lick the dust at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
those who hope in me will not be disappointed.”  Isaiah 49:23

Wherever you are in life, God will meet you there.  All of this is temporary and we will rejoice when we reach our eternal destination.

Betamax- I've been at a place in my life that sounds similar to yours...and what I found out is that the Lord remained faithful to me when I turned away from Him...and all it took on my part was an about face- 180 degree -turning away from the direction I was going to just turn around and see Him there- with wide open arms, eager to forgive, comfort, and love me with all He is- good & gracious....He is willing and able to take care of you when you repent and choose to walk step by step with Him- He is full of mercy and lovingkindness- trust Him more than anything or anyone else- especially (as it sounds like you've found out) ask Him to help you to trust Him more than even yourself....pour your heart out to Him and never look back or step away or ahead of Him- just be yoked, abide, trust with every little step- one at a time- with Him...never forget that He loves you so completely & unconditionally!

Praying for you also, Betamax.  I think many of us have been at or almost at the place you are in now, where we feel like we can't or don't want to go on any longer...but the truth is we have a God who can and will sustain us in our times of hurting...even extended times.  May you even begin to feel His presence as He ministers to you through the body of believers here.  He loves you and cares about you my brother or sister.  Know that many are lifting you up to Him...Bless you in Jesus name.    :prayer-hands:
