More than two decades after American forces entered Iraq in 2003, the United States is now completing the withdrawal of its remaining troops from the country, with the final departure scheduled for September 30, 2026 — closing one of the longest and most consequential chapters in modern U.S. military history. But this is much bigger than soldiers leaving bases. For Washington, meanwhile, the shift reflects a different military calculation: Iraqi forces are increasingly expected to carry primary responsibility for security inside their own country while U.S. counterterrorism capabilities are repositioned around the wider region. A 27-year-old man, identified only as a dual Iranian-British national, has been arrested in Westminster, London, on suspicion of the preparation of terrorist acts... The man is the sixth arrest following a bomb alert at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police quickly released those five men on bail, prompting public confusion about a case where little is certain... A spokesman for counter terrorism policing said the investigation was proving to be “hugely complex” and was being pursued by specialist teams considering “all possible angles including foreign state involvement”. Today’s arrest of a dual Iranian-British national follows remarks overnight by UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who expressed there is a “strong indication” that whatever happened at RAF Fairford involved the Iranian government. The base reportedly moved to force protection level ‘Delta’, the highest and rarely seen state, in response to intelligence of a specific and imminent threat. In addition to the usual base security, a heavy earth-mover plant was parked blocking perimeter gates, armoured cars were regularly patrolling the fence line, and aircraft were dispersed around the base, a Cold War-era tactic to make the air wing less vulnerable to attack. A U.S. Coast Guard riverine boat crew patrolling the Texas-Mexico border came under fire from suspected Mexican cartel forces on Saturday, sparking an immediate tactical response from federal forces. The Guardsmen returned fire and successfully suppressed the threat, sustaining no injuries during the unprovoked cross-border attack. An official statement from DHS states: The Coast Guard works closely with U.S. Border Patrol, the Department of War and the Texas Military Division to secure the border, disrupt illicit activity and protect the American people. We will continue to leverage a layered, integrated approach to control, secure, and defend the border that strengthens our collective ability to counter illicit activity and safeguard our personnel and the communities we serve. Gunfire from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande is not uncommon. Iran is set to have no oil at sea and no oil revenue this week for the “first time in history,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said as Tehran’s top security official issued a rare warning over the country’s deepening economic crisis. “For the first time in history, since they started pumping oil, they will have no oil on the water this week,” Bessent told The Axios Show on Saturday. “They will have no revenues.” The warnings came as Iran’s currency sank to another record low. The rial traded at roughly 2.69 million to the dollar Saturday after losing more than half its value over the past year, while inflation has climbed above 70 percent. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that supplies moving through Hormuz have continued to rise in recent weeks. Goldman Sachs analysts estimated Persian Gulf oil exports reached roughly 23.3 million barrels per day over the past week, returning to prewar levels even as Iranian crude loadings collapsed. The administration says it intends to maintain that arrangement — allowing international energy traffic through the strait while continuing to block Iranian exports.BREAKING MILITARY INTEL: U.S. Forces EXIT Final Iraq Bases by Sept. 30 — 20+ Year Era Ends:
