The title of this thread is a bit misleading. I was thinking more along the lines of this:Screenshot (388)

Time to get the grill going!

A number of years ago I looked out the window and saw my Collie/German Shepherd being frantically chased around our house by the neighbors. She had something in her mouth. They had laid frozen T-bones down on their concrete porch slab to thaw. My dog  couldn’t resist and nabbed one. Can you blame her?! They managed to retrieve the frozen steak and cooked it anyway.

I know this isn’t the Coffee Tea thread, but she was very discerning. She liked coffee! You had to watch your coffee cup unless you didn’t mind drinking after a dog. Coffee and steak. Smart dog!

Right after college I worked as a grill cook. I only ever had one steak returned!  It was a filet mignon which you usually are careful not to overcook it. So I cooked it some more. He sent it back again, so I cooked it some more!  It came back a third time, so I threw it in the microwave and zapped it good. Happy customer after that.

LOL … when all else fails nuke it in the microwave to perfection! 😂

I was at the local expensive restaurant one time for my birthday.  I ordered a prime rib (medium well done)… it came out rare. 🙁   I wanted the waitress to bring it back to be cooked and she advised me you best take it home because the chef would be VERY insulted that it was brought back to cook longer.  I said are you kidding me?  She was dead serious … he would doctor up the meat by adding “fluids” you will not like if you dare return to the kitchen.  They should have fired the wacko … but after that incident I feared returning anything in other restaurants cause some cooks have ego attitudes.  That night I filled up on the salad and sides and bread and brought the entire prime ribs home.  Next day I cooked it in the oven and got it to my liking. Was fantastic once it was cooked.  We never went back again and then a few months later the place closed down… hmmm I wonder why?

Hi Geri. That’s ridiculous for a cook to be insulted about food being sent back in my opinion. I was more than happy to try and please the gentleman. He almost wanted it cremated.  He ended up happy and so did I. That cook you had appears to have had serious ego issues, besides being nuts. 🤪

When it comes to how done a steak is, “the customer is always right,” as they say.

Geri — I was at a restraint long ago when stationed in HI and sitting there with two other couples, one of the guys in our group ordered a steak rare — well we all got to laughing when it came out with a lot of blood, we were making mooing sounds as the cow was obviously not quite dead but “mostly dead” :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: he sent it back for a bit more doneness :mdrmdr:  still not to my liking , I am a “no pink meat eater but I like it tender so that does take extra work to slow cook it…. Now I am hungry, wonder if we will have steak in heaven, sure hope so and Bar-b-q baby backs, yum…..
