You know we're all dating ourselves with these songs ;-).   But I love it -- brings back so many memories - at least the ones I can remember.

Elvis' gospel music has always been my favorite ~ ~ this one is so cool ~

I, John saw a mighty number a'movin' waaaaaaaaaay up in the middle of the air"

Oh well, I, John, he saw mighty numbers
A way up in the middle of the air
I, John he saw mighty numbers
Way in the middle of the air
Got to mighty move, John, you saw mighty numbers

Way up in the middle of the air
Well there were three gates in the east
And there were three gates in the west
Three gates in the north
Three gates in the south
And that makes twelve gates to the city all square wide
John, you saw mighty numbers way up in the middle of the air

Well John declared that he saw a man
He held twelve bright stars in his right hand
Well his eyes flashed fire like the burning sun
Old John got scared and he wanted to run
Well he wanted to run but his feet wouldn't go
Cause he felt the gospel cutting like a two-edged sword
And he heard a voice that said John, you take a look
And read what you see and then you write it in a book

And he saw twelve angels in the east
And there were twelve angels in the west
Hallelujah brother
Twelve angels in the north,
Twelve angels in the south
That's a total of forty-eight angels to the city, four squared wide

One thing about memory lane, it reminds you how old you are!

Another observation is that it’s been years since any song of faith has hit the pop charts!

I was just thinking the same thing TR....the last one that I know of that "crossed over" to the pop charts that is faith based is Mercy Me's  I can only imagine....beautiful song but how sad it is for kids growing up not getting to hear any spiritual songs on pop or any things on TV about our Savior. My parents did not attend church when I was young, so obviously I wasn't raised in the church but I did pay very close attention to TV and movie shows that talked about Jesus and God.....even the cartoons like the little drummer boy and Charlie Brown's christmas, plus things like Little House on the prairie were quite effective in sharing Jesus to kids like me who didn't hear about Jesus otherwise.....now mainstream TV, movie and music has no place for Jesus Cry
