If I can better elaborate.  Being made in the image and likeness of God, I can easily approach this on an emotional level.  Abraham's faith gave God's heart warm fuzzies.

Additionally, our faith always challenges God to respond.  As such God was freed to continue with His plan of salvation utilizing the shed blood of Christ.  As God could easily have "repented" in his heart in offering up His Son for our behalf.

I think that if we substitute the word "reconsider" rather than repent we would have a more true understanding God's thought process.

This then explains why Abraham and his lineage became God's chosen people.  A people to whom God would reveal Himself towards, who then could be used to share God revealed the world.  Not only in this life, but also in the life to come.

Not because they could build a temple, or keep the laws of God by and large!

TR - not to disagree brother, Gods design was in place before the creation of the world, In His omniscience the ending and the beginning were set. Abraham believed God (trusted, followed, and relied 100%) and that was counted for him in righteousness. God chose Abraham because He decided too! Not because Abraham did anything to deserve His favor, he did not. Enoch walked with God and God took him; Noah found favor with God and God placed he and his family in the ark; down through time, Gods plan and purpose have been marching on, like a beautifully woven tapestry. MN neither directs the next stitch nor hinders it from happening, as our amazing Heavenly Father has absolutely ALL the pieces of this puzzle we call humanity placed in just the right spot and at just the right human time frame, but always according to the Master plan. Jeremiah 33:3 says we can call on him and he will show us; Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Make no mistake about it, God is fully in charge and knows the beginning from the end without our consent or permission, yet He is working it all out for our good as His in the Beloved..

my two- cents for the year! :good: :prayer-hands:

Indeed the Lord had already decided on His course of action.  I'm just saying that aside from God being well pleased with faith that is demonstrated, I find Abraham willing to give his beloved son was only a tangible expression the Lord's heart willing to do the same!
