My suggestion is to always call the insurance company. Terry is right. What if she decides to sue? The cost to you would be substantially more than any deductible from the insurance company.

@yohanan yes, it is always best to go to the insurance and do things properly than make a deal with the other people involved.

A police report should have been taken as in most states, it is a crime to leave the scene of an accident also. Insurance will require a police report anyway.

@perhapstoday insurance said it's Ok if I don't have a police report, but I would have preferred for the police to come.

hello everyone, thank you so much for your responses.

I couldn't post yesterday because I couldn't log in.

I am in Ontario. A minor collision with no injuries has to be reported within 48 hours.

I called my insurance company and told them what happened. I also told them that I was disoriented and in shock so I have no info on the other drivers. Only a name and a phone number (and it could be wrong) the agent said he will call that number.

the town I was in was almost in the middle of nowhere. there are farms and a few houses. the collision should have been reported there, but the agent told me there is no need to drive all the way up there to go to a centre. personally, I am not making any claims. damage is relatively minor. If in 2 or 3 weeks, they don't hear from the other driver, they will close the file. I prefer it closed and forgotten.

Hello siblings,

I got a call from the claims department. The agent apologized for taking so long to get back to me. He did speak to the other driver. He said she didn't say much. she didn't put any claims so far.

he confirmed that I don't want to file any claims and closed the file.

thank God.

thank you for your prayers.

My step-sister, who was also my close friend and confidant, died today.  Although we lived on opposite sides of the country, we talked on the phone every Friday.  She got sick so quickly over the fourth of July holiday.  I thought she would recover but everything went downhill so fast.  I praise God that she was a Christian.
