I'm very happy for you that you got at least $1,093.00 back. My dog Jake is no longer living but back in the day he had his knee blow out and it cost $2500 (2005). Less than a week after his cast came off it blew out again! They gave a discount of about $250. So it was either pay another $2500 or have his leg taken off. I'd have had to change his name to Tripod if they did that so to save from having to buy another $5.00 dog tag with his new name on it  we ended up spending the additional $2500. The pet industry is booming. It’s estimated the US pet industry reached $99 billion in 2020 and we can certainly see why! Makes me wonder how much we overpaid for services like Geri received from that pet hospital? This industry preys upon the emotional attachment to pets! Knowing but only 50% of people are pet lovers, they milk it for all they can! This has long been recognized, and has helped me not to form deep emotional attachments! Funeral and internment costs can equal that of humans! Really!!! TR Back in 2015 …. I was grieving big time in losing 3 close loved ones in 5 years so I listen to the advice of a few that said “get a dog … they will bring happiness”. I caved and followed their advice. I picked a breed I was familiar with never realizing he was going to be a massive chewer of anything that is not edible. I also believed the rapture was going to happen soon before any major health issues … big sigh … and here we are 6 years later and 2 hospital visits so far  On a plus side, he does bring joy, keeps me company and protects me … but it certainly is coming with a BIG price tag to enjoy these benefits. B-) Hopefully 2022 is THE year we fly home!!! Yesterday “adventures” He drags out his bedding and caught him trying to make a hole in this sheet. I told him NO … he gives me a look and then barks at me. I can’t imagine what its going to be like when they can talk again … I'm thankful for Vet's but at the same time it's their prices that have become comparable to human charges, or so it feels. I had a cat I adored, brought back when we left the mission field in Guatemala. But he developed heart issue's, and stones on top of that. Eventually he had to be put down. My next cat was announced heart healthy but do you know, she later began to lose her most important teeth for chewing taking turns at having to be removed. And had diabetes. It went from bad to worse to where she stopped eating. That's when I searched and found the major degree of unhealthy pet food ingredients that can actually cause disease in pets. It is so painful to watch your pet not be able to eat, even Vet prescribed food. It is a hardship, and if not a hardship, just outright wrong for Vet clinics to charge pet owners such outrageous prices that become undo-able eventually, giving only one last option. In learning how unhealthy pet food is/can be, to have another pet for me, would have been just waiting for another disease to come about, the high cost of trying to bring them back to health, and watching them suffer so, which I choose to no longer do. Praying the Lord will allow us to have our pets again, but in heaven where there will be no death ever again.
