No new grants for Harvard, US education secretary says:

Harvard University has a tax-free endowment of $53.2 billion, which is larger than the gross domestic product of 100 countries, and it gets billions of taxpayer dollars each year. But instead of using those monies “to advance the education of its students,” it engages “in a systemic pattern of violating federal law,” according to Linda McMahon, the U.S. education secretary.

The secretary charged that Harvard “has made a mockery of this country’s higher education system” and invited foreign students, “who engage in violent behavior and show contempt for the United States,” onto campus.

“This letter is to inform you that Harvard should no longer seek grants from the federal government, since none will be provided,” she wrote.

Trump Interrupts Canadian Prime Minister to Issue a Crushing Reality Check: 'There's No Reason for Us to Be Subsidizing Canada':

President Donald Trump and new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had a few tense moments in the Oval Office before Tuesday, particularly when the issue of trade came up.

Trump set the table even before Carney arrived at the White House, posting on Truth Social, “I look forward to meeting the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney. I very much want to work with him, but cannot understand one simple TRUTH — Why is America subsidizing Canada by $200 Billion Dollars a year, in addition to giving them FREE Military Protection, and many other things?”

“We don’t need their Cars, we don’t need their Energy, we don’t need their Lumber, we don’t need ANYTHING they have, other than their friendship, which hopefully we will always maintain. They, on the other hand, need EVERYTHING from us! The Prime Minister will be arriving shortly and that will be, most likely, my only question of consequence,” he added.

...But the president continued, saying, “And we don’t want steel from Canada, because we’re making our own steel, and we’re having massive steel plants being built right now as we speak.”

Trump argued, “Because of past thinking of people, we have a tremendous deficit with Canada, and they have a surplus with us, and there’s no reason for us to be subsidizing Canada,” adding, “Canada’s a place that will have to be able to take care of itself, economically.”

Trump Hails ‘Breakthrough Trade Deal’ And ‘Economic Security Alignment’ With United Kingdom:

U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled the first of his post tariff Liberation Day trade deals with the United Kingdom, revealing increased market access with “one of our closest and most cherished allies.”

Noting the announcement came on a “special day” of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day when “we won the war together”, President Trump hailed the “breakthrough trade deal” with “one of our closest and most cherished allies” and said:

With this deal the UK joins the United States in affirming that reciprocity and fairness is an essential and vital principle of international trade. The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports, especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef, ethanol, and virtually all the products created by our great farmers.

… In addition the UK will eliminate or reduce numerous non-tariff barriers that unfairly discriminate against American products, but I think this is turning out to be a great deal for both countries as it will be really great for the UK also. They are opening up, their country is a little closed, and we appreciate that.

Competition In Education: Texas Signs School Choice Vouchers Into Law:

It's no secret that US schooling has been in steep decline since the founding of the federal Department of Education in 1980 and the normalization of centralized government curriculum.  Reading, math and science scoring is dismal.  The US ranks 28th out of 37 countries participating in OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) math scores and 12th in science.  The US is 36th in the global literacy rankings.  For the richest nation on Earth, these are not encouraging results.

To be sure, demographics do play a role in dragging national scores down, but a greater threat to the learning experience of young Americans is the largely progressive controlled education system infested by a majority Democrat teachers union.  For decades there's been no escape for children and parents from leftist indoctrination, and Democrats would like to keep it that way.

This is why the concept of private school vouchers has been stuck in political limbo for years; the ability to choose threatens the status quo.  Democrats claim that school vouchers would primarily benefit students from wealthy families, but the wealthy already have the option of a private education.  The middle class does not, and those are the kids that Dems want to keep on the plantation.

Governor Greg Abbott has just signed school choice vouchers into law after a long fought legislative battle.  Abbott signed the school choice bill on May 3rd, allowing for taxpayer money to be used to help qualifying students pay for private school tuition.

As part of the $1 billion bill, most students who attend an accredited private school will receive $10,000 per year. Students with disabilities will receive up to $30,000 per year, and home-schooled students will get $2,000 a year.  The money is intended to help students cover what might otherwise be unattainable private school tuition.  The average cost of private schooling is $12,000 a year per student.  Meaning, Texas is likely to see the biggest surge in private school attendance of any state in recent history.

The momentum for school vouchers has been gaining in recent years because of two factors:  First, the hysteria over Covid, the useless mandates and attempts to force vaccinate have made millions of parents wary of placing their children within the power of government schools again.  Second, the insane spread of woke ideology and LGBT "sexual awareness" in the classroom, mainly spearheaded by groomer teachers, has left parents utterly disenchanted with government education.

In other words, the teachers did this to themselves.  And, if some of them lose their jobs because Americans now have other alternatives, all the better.

DNI Gabbard Reveals 11 Active Investigations Into Intel Leaks and Deep State Sabotage of Trump Administration:

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed this week that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) is actively pursuing 11 separate internal investigations into classified intelligence leaks meant to sabotage the Trump administration from within.

Appearing on a segment with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Gabbard pulled no punches, directly calling out entrenched bureaucrats for undermining the duly elected President of the United States with calculated leaks to far-left corporate media outlets.

"We have 11 other internal investigations ongoing now within ODNI, and we intend to continue to carry them out to completion—to hold those who are illegally leaking classified information, trying to undermine the President, politicizing intelligence—hold them accountable. Because this has got to end."
