The Lord rose from the grave on First-fruits [Day 16 Month 1] because, through His Holy Spirit, He is the Resurrection Day. First-fruits is synonymous with "the Resurrection on the Last Day" Apparently this use to be common knowledge among the Jewish people. Note the dialogue between the Lord and Martha: Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection [that is, I am the First-fruits] and the LIFE. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” The Lord is the LIFE of all the saints who will be experiencing the resurrection when He comes. "But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the FIRST-FRUITS of those who have fallen asleep." [1 Cor.15:20] He's also the LIFE of those of us who will experience the transformation from having physical flesh and bone bodies to having glorified flesh and bone bodies.
