Moses and Elijah appeared on the Mt. of Transfiguration and had private words with Jesus!

Obviously they appeared to increase Christ's validity!  Were they also getting last minute instructions for their future appearance?

Doesn't seem likely!  But if the AC is already here in the flesh awaiting his time, might that hold true for them as well?

And if so, might there be another meeting before their ministry begins?

Just spit balling here?!

The validation of Christ in the eyes of Peter, James and John could easily be dismissed by the Jews!

So why did it really happen?  If Christ wanted us to know their identity then it would have easily been stated in the Word!

Any thoughts?!  TR

It says in the Bible that they spoke of Jesus' death which was soon to happen, and probably other things too.

Nice! :good:

I do wonder if we might see Moses and Elijah as a sign before departure or will we leave as they are coming down and giving them high 5’s?

Besides the Transfiguration you mentioned .... we have these facts:

God buried Moses
Deut 34:6  “And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.“

Deut 34:7  “Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.”

We don’t know how much time went by for this to happen ...

Michael was given the orders to remove Moses bones from the burial spot

Jude 1:9  “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.“

————————————
Malachi 4:5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:”

The Jews do this every Passover ...
“Elijah's Cup. A place setting is always made up for Elijah, the prophet, at the Passover table. He is the honored guest in every Jewish household, with a cup filled with wine waiting for him, as it is hoped that he will come and announce the coming of the Messiah.“

Could this be a clue of when the 2 witnesses show up on the scene?

————————————-
2 witnesses ministry are the same as both Elijah and Moses

Rev 11:6 “These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.”

I think that they will be the two witnesses. Symbolically,  they represent the law and the prophets.

The volume of the book is written of me,  said Jesus.  Indeed,  the law and the prophets point to Jesus.  He is the prophesized Messiah and the end goal of the law. The law shows that we are utterly incapable of keeping it and that we need a Saviour.

The Baptist returned in "the spirit" of Elijah!

Will that be the case for those two prophets as well?!  Thereby adding credence to them already alive and here.

Being abreast of more recent history!

That would be a very long ‘last minute’ 😉

So why did it really happen?  If Christ wanted us to know their identity then it would have easily been stated in the Word!
To fulfill Mat 16:28 Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Their commission was made secure the day of the transfiguration!  I have no doubt.

Details, details!  Just a curiosity to see how it all plays out!

Yes! I agree. I hope when we’re in eternity we will learn these things that are hidden from us now. I, like all of you, have soooo many questions. I have no doubt that we will be constantly learning. The depths of the knowledge of God is endless.

The case of two witnesses and their timing is an injunction against Israel in particular.

As well as an indictment against all those that had refused Christ!

Their role and importance in their previous life can only be overshadowed by their end of days ministry!

As such we can only remain to be mindful of them!
