I didn’t realized Nineveh worshiped the false god, Dagon (half man/half fish). So no wonder between Jonah being spit out of the GREAT FISH on the beach and the sign of the solar eclipse … they feared and listened closely to his warning. No 1 hour sermon … he only used 8 words: Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” Jonah3:5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. Since God uses symbolism and signs in the sun, moon, stars, do you think the eclipse of yesterday is a type of warning? The world has 40 days before judgement? J. D.
