Israel Targets Hamas Leaders in Airstrike on Qatar Capital, Doha:

Israel carried out a surprise airstrike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday — taking aim at terrorist billionaires long sheltered by a country that is considered a strong U.S. ally, and where the U.S. has an airbase.

Hamas leaders have enjoyed a luxurious exile in Doha, living in plus five-star hotels and posh homes.

The Israel Defense forces and Israel Security Agency (ISA, Shin Bet, or Shabak) released a statement, in which they did not mention Doha directly:

The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization.

For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have led the terrorist organization’s operations, are directly responsible for the brutal October 7th massacre, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel.

Prior to the strike, measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence.

The IDF and ISA will continue to operate with determination in order to defeat the Hamas terrorist organization responsible for the October 7th massacre.

Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria will not be decided by the UAE:  Opinion

It has now been reported that the UAE has warned Israel that applying sovereignty to parts of Judea and Samaria is a “red line” that would end regional integration.

Israel’s “red line” is preventing its enemies from murdering its citizens. Just yesterday morning, two terrorists from near Ramallah, an area under Palestinian Authority control (not Hamas-run Gaza), attacked a bus in Jerusalem, killing innocent Jews and injuring many others.

But here’s the truth that the UAE and others don’t understand: a majority of Israelis today know that sovereignty in Judea and Samaria,  the Biblical heartland of our people, is far more critical for our long-term security than the Abraham Accords. October 7th woke up many Israelis to finally realize that the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are protecting all of Israel. The UAE’s is an empty threat. Relations with Israel help them more than they help us. The empty threat is likely to be diplomatic bluster, with little to no genuine impact on ties with Israel after we finally apply sovereignty.

The Jewish people did not return to their ancestral homeland after 2,000 years of exile, persecution, and genocide to wait for the approval of Arab monarchs or Western diplomats on policy.

We are here to stay. We will build. We will apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. We will continue to be the strongest ally of any nation in the region that truly seeks peace, stability, and freedom.

The future of the Middle East will not be decided by ultimatums from Abu Dhabi or from Washington, but rather by Israel’s faith, resilience, and determination to live as a free people in our God-given land, which means sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

Hamas leaders will find no sanctuary, not even in Qatar, Israel strike signals - analysis:

Almost a year after Israel assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut – something many believed Jerusalem would never dare to do - it set out on Tuesday to kill Hamas’ leadership in Doha. That, too, was something many thought Israel would never risk.

The strike gives substance to a mantra repeated time and again by Israel’s political and military leaders: Israel’s long arm will reach all those who plot to and murder Israelis.

Skeptics always qualified that statement: “Sure - unless they live, as Hamas leaders have for years, openly and defiantly in Doha.”

Why did they believe this? Because of Qatar’s ties with Israel. Because of its standing in the West. Because of its importance to the region. Because of its close alliance with Washington, which maintains its largest Middle East base there. Because of its central role in mediating between Israel and Hamas.

Israel’s decision to strike in the heart of Doha, nearly two years after the war began, signals several realities.

First, it shows that negotiations over the hostages - in which Qatar has played a leading role - were at a dead end.

The fact that the US did not prevent the attack is also a message to Qatar. For years, Doha has played a duplicitous game with remarkable skill: cultivating the West by investing billions worldwide, while at the same time hosting Hamas and backing it financially and diplomatically. That game may now be over.

If Hamas is the octopus, then Qatar has been the reef where it camouflaged itself – hiding in plain sight while extending its reach. The reef provided safety, legitimacy, and protection even as the tentacles lashed out and murdered scores of Israelis.
By striking in Doha, Israel showed it will no longer be put off by the camouflage. It was a warning not only to Hamas – that there is no sanctuary – but also to Qatar: if you provide the reef, don’t be surprised when others are willing to shatter it to strike at what lurks inside.
There is, to be sure, no small measure of satisfaction in this operation – Israel once again demonstrating to friend and foe alike the extent of its reach.
