We are told that God created, set in place and knows the name of every star He created!

Perhaps we might be named after a star on our white stones?!  No doubt each of our new names might represent or describe what we have meant to the Lord's heart.  Or highlight an attribute we may have been given?!

I've in times past also alluded to an endearing "pet" or "private" name that when used, it would be a call for intimacy with our Lord!

Any thoughts?

Just think of the tens of thousands of descriptors for a meaningful new name the letters "TR" might take on.  Maybe T being an adjective and R being a noun.  Or in combination like Totally Redeemed, Total Recall, Tiny Rabbit, Titan Raider, Truly Relaxed, ... or ... Tyrannosaurus Rex.  That reminds me.  Back when I used to ride my dinosaur to school, I used to be really scared that you would come bounding up from under the bridge just as my stegosaurus and I were crossing it.  Every time we crossed the bridge safely back then, I was Totally Relieved!

LOL, I think T.R. is not only sorry he asked the question but sorry he chose those 2 initials. :mdrmdr:

I always hated my name ... I always preferred a popular name especially growing up when the style was to have your name on necklaces, t-shirts, even  a bookmark ... couldn’t even find it listed on a lousy bookmark.  I felt like an outcast growing up.

Sounds like in heaven everyone will be getting a unique name. I just hope I can pronounce it and it doesn’t sound terrible.   Reminds me of when I had gall bladder surgery and was recovering in the hospital that night.  A young Indian nurse’s aid (from the country of India) came in and said “hi, I’m  Madahorny and I will be taking care of you tonight.  Let me know if you need anything by pressing this button.”   I did a double take and said “what did you say your name was again?”  And she proudly said it again.  You know how hard it was to try not to laugh?!  She even wrote it down on the white board!   After she left the room ... I thought wow ... she is “mad and horny” what a name!   From that point on, I started to appreciate my name after all and accepted it since it could be far worse.

I hope I am not named after a star like Cygnus X-1 of Betelguese!  Lol.

Just kidding.  That secret name is going to be awesome.

Interesting that in ancient Greece,  when you were givem a white stone,  it was a sign of aquittal.  Yay!  :yahoo:

Thanks Dan, I'd love playing the part of a troll for you and your flintstone vehicle!

Funny story Geri7!

Indeed awesome Arthur,  that the Lord would care so much as to really make it something personal and private!

Who knows, maybe I'll just remain plain old Tender Reed!?

But I just brought it up to highlight how meticulous and finite the Lord can be.  How by giving us such all new names we are indeed released from our sin nature and are something not only pleasing in His sight, but also something desired by Him!

I'm sure the Lord will use many languages and even angelic language to ascribe to our new monikers.  Perhaps even metaphoric words to encapsulate His feelings towards each of us.

Genesis 1:14-16

14Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.

I love that about God.  There are trillions and quadrillions and quintillions of stars.  Yet He says humbly,  I made those also.  Like,  no big deal.  Lol.  Such power and humility!  Wow!

I will have to be a bit drab here as I desire to wait for the Lord to give me my name. My poor finite brain cannot even begin to fathom the depth of what God Almighty will choose to name me for eternity, but it will be glorious and perfect according to His majesty. :prayer-hands:

Whatever name He gives us will truly be personal, passionate and serve us well throughout eternity!  I could learn to like "hey you"!
