As the days come and go in each of our lives, we who believe are filled with Hope!  For no matter what our days and nights might bring into our lives, eternity beckons us.  Our Heavenly Father beckons.  Our bridegroom beckons.  And the Spirit of the living God beckons us as well!

I can almost hear all the host of Heaven and all the saints that are already there, encouraging us.  Their encouragements continue until we cross that threshold of time.

We are told, yet a little while.  But then....glory unimaginable!   Fight the good fight!  Don't rely on flesh and blood, but rather on the spirit.  When we are weak, He is strong!  The Lord has already secured our victory!

Time is short and continues be shamed by eternity itself!  Yes eternity itself knows each of us and whispers our names.  Like an old and dear friend eternity remembers us ever before the Lord!  The patience of eternity is enduring, in past, present and future!

For the love that Jesus has in his heart for each of us teaches time itself to rest in the assurance that we and eternity shall one day be united, forever!

TR - exactly! I could not have said it better, thank you!

I want the share a verse that came to my mind as I was reading your post.

John 16:27 “for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”

Good morning tenderreed!

Your post "Eternity Beckons..."   inspired me to post another one of my poems. I am a strange person in that I am more inclined to convey my thoughts through that venue instead of just talking straight up.  But I am right there with you on your thoughts....

We are so close, and sometimes it seems, so far away.  But Jesus said He would come when "we think not".   Life will be as normal, people marrying and getting married,  everybody going about their usual activities.  It can be any day, not locked into a world-changing event.  Just my own opinion, and it doesn't matter who is right -- just as long as Jesus comes for us soon!

YBIC,

Humbly

Given that we live in a transient existence, the concept of eternity is so completely foreign!

Again with we and Christ being made a little lower than the angels, the biggest difference between us and spirit beings is indeed mortality vs immortality!  We have in this life limited glory, knowledge and understanding.  Our access to our Creator God is also extremely limited!  And unlike the angels and beings of Heaven, we are relugated to picking and scratching to keep our existence intact.

We live in an existence where our primary function is to supply the needs of our bodies.  Sustaining all our needs on a daily basis.  This is what the Lord had set up.  Creating Earth, fashioning a Garden, and having been given the responsibility of managing the resources the Lord had provided!

While yet being asked to nurture and tend the things of the spirit realm also we can't help but struggle with the focus between mortality and immortality.  This duality of purpose is neither realized by any animal or angel!!!  We are unique in this regard.

And in this responsibility of provision for body, soul and spirit therein lies a precarious balance.  We can indeed ascend to ridiculous extremes.  So earthly minded we are not fit for Heaven, and so Heavenly minded we are of little worth here on Earth!  Ergo the Lord can hardly be anything but patient with us, especially as He offers help in times of need.  Unknown manna as Jesus alluded to!  Yet we are affirmed that this time of testing is but only for a short season.

It has been said that nothing is certain but death and taxes!  I indeed must add eternity to that list. Highlighting that in eternity if we have wisely invested into the promises of Christ death and taxes will not exact payment.  For the Lord pays our debts and eliminates death!

Many are the motivations the human heart can aspire to in Heavenly life, but to enter into the realm of eternity where the Lord and angels abide, is the most to be desired, IMHO!  Again, only Christ has intimately known and excelled at both!  He is our gate of example and entrance!

If the Lord views us as the crown of His creation, eternity most certainly would be it's genesis and foundation!   Going where no man has gone before!  Exploring new realms!  A never ending trek !  please forgive the obvious analogy!

TR well said. I am reminded of the verse 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”

Given our finite brain, I truly don’t think we have the ability to grasp the awesome concept of God’s glorious kingdom and what He has prepared for us. His love is unfathomable by human hearts. The depth and breath of God is unimaginable in His majesty, glory, power, and love.

I can sometimes feel like my soul just wants to leap out of this earthly, corruptible form to be with the Savior who gave from that God head, in love and bought us back with His Devine blood. :prayer-hands:

Blessings Sis!  Indeed again, man has neither the quality nor quantity of words to describe God's glory!

We know in part and see in part.  Our vision and understanding is veiled!  Simply put, mortality cannot comprehend immortality.  Never having partaken of any of Heaven's glories who can really imagine them?!  There is a vast chasm between intellectual knowledge and experience!

Someone once used the analogy of an orange.  Going to great lengths to verbalize all it's various attributes and pleasures of the fruit eaten.  But until it is personally experienced it is an exercise in  the unknown!

Our motivations describing our love of God and of Heaven are individually varied, and each extremely valid.  As has been pointed out, emotions are neither quantified as right or wrong but simply as personal and real!

Whereas the love of Christ is indeed paramount and pivotal for entrance into His home, Heaven!

It is spoken of St. Thomas Aquinas that he was a prolific writer and teacher.  His intellectual ascent and the use of his pen was prolific!

He then had a Rhema experience with the risen Lord, after which his pen was all but silenced. Or so the story goes.

It’s hard to imagine our eternal heavenly residence because what we see as beautiful down here, on this sin cursed earth, is really nothing more than a garbage pit compared to our eternal home!  Just the thought of walking on golden streets is going to be amazing!  :yahoo:

I did a paper on Thomas Aquinas in my undergrad sociology class, very interesting man and a witness was presented through that paper. Both. him and Sir Issac Newton were used by God in their time, yet humanism has changed the perception of them enough to distort the current generations and keeping them from the truth! So sad 🙁

The Rapture will indeed be the portal that introduces many of us simultaneously to eternity!

The first coming of Christ was the greatest gift the Father ever gave mankind!  Gifting us with spiritual life and the clearing of our sin debt against God.

Second only to that IMHO is the Rapture!  The Rapture also simultaneously allows us to shed our mortality and clothes us with immortality!

The second coming of Christ completes the trifecta of God's grace towards us  .  For within this final act of God's grace, our enemies and His enemies are finally confronted with their sins!  The Lord tears apart the curtain which veiled the sins of mankind! And both Israel and the Church are then united intimately with God!

Lastly, rewards for the righteous and judgment for those that loved unrighteousness!  Ironically, eternity is then entwined with both.  Creating two states of being.  Eternal fellowship with our Creator God, or eternal separation from God!

In the end, eternity will tell the tale....forever!
